Kathak is made up of two types of movement. Nrtya wish is pure dance and Natya which the story telling aspect of which the word Kathaka is derived. Natya also encompasses Abhinaya which is the art of showing emotion. Many of the dances portray deep spirituality. Without it, stories of Mirabai, Ramayan and Gitagovinda to just name a few would fall flat if not for the deep spiritual aspect of these stories. The Sufi dances fall very nicely into the mode of Bhakti or devotion. Very spiritual.

Trying to fuse spirituality with dance form such as kathak does not work well but thanks for trying. Perhaps a slow sufi song would work well.
