The Theology of Islam completely contradicts the Teaching of Sufi Saints and Poets like Jalaluddin Rumi, Mansoor Al Halaj, Miya Mir, Bulleh Shah .. these are Enlightened Masters who Poems and teachings run Parallel to Advaitha Teachings or Tatvamasi or Aham Brahmasmi of Hindu Culture .... But unfortunately I am sad to say that Islamic Theology or Quran carries not even an iota of Spirituality .... Because Mansoor Al Hallaj was Killed because he Spoke the Truth ...of Aham Brahmasmi because for them God and Creation are Different .. but One who is realised always said you and the Source of the Creation are the same .. I can see this *I* character causing me trouble. Telling me who I am and how I have to be, without reason, through a voice that is as close and familiar to me as my heart. A voice I thought I was for 25 years that I'm just now starting to see is nothing more than an accumulation of stuff I've experienced and thought. I feel like even now I speak from I, yet at the same time I'm starting to feel as if I'm not speaking at all. It's as if my body is speaking and I'm watching, but somehow in in control, as if the watching me is secretly granting all permissions, unknowingly. I don't understand what's happening with me and I know I've confused myself on the path of knowledge and understanding, but I feel like trying to lose this I* is EXACTLY the same as seeking death. But, like a live death.

Beautiful. I need to let go if this conditioned (!) "I" that evokes feelings and emotions in me that my BEING ME not want. I am a simply a being, breathing in and out. Now. I hate the EGO. It is like a disease or a parasite that feasts on mind. I can't decide over my own being while this EGO is still in me. Dear GOD, LORD, only with you my being wants to be, you are in me and around me, I am only blind and deaf for you LORD because of all the negativity that built inside me for 21 years. I want to surrender to completly to PUNYA just to be close to you GOD. I will work my whole life just to try be like you beautiful, untouched GOD. I want to leave this world's reality and enter the real TRUTH. Only TRUTH and LOVE can heal me. I won't let anything besides truth and love inside me. Dear Rey, you say, "we can change our perception/quality.." yet it leads to a world of difference. It is not an insignificant change. Humans are mostly exaggerated egoic beings. That creature called human beings, are the problem. The problem is us. Plants or animals are not the problems in planet earth. Wrong sense of self is the problem. Human self or ego is the problem. As the mantra says, religions are also full of egoic intervention... Self preservation and survival is okay. Nobody can live without ego. But the point is to reach or achieve a consciousness that help us internalize the humane value to minimize our ego. Otherwise, violence, cajoling, losing norms, rules and ethics, whether secular or religious, losing any rules becomes easy. you do not even need any rule or code if sense it by both heart and mind. so, it is much deeper than changing our perception. Mysticism does not necessarily exclude philosophical rationalism either, and vice versa. I kindly advise or urge you to read zen, tao and/or sufi Rumi. these are not bigotry. Contrary to commonplace popularizations, they are not dogma. Indeed, they are against it, even against the dogmatization of religions. They do not erase ego, it gives the wherewithals to know yourself as that other than ego. You are more than ego. Yes, ego exists but as an wrong consciousness. Westerners are way too much vested in hedonism, materialism, which have their rightful place too; but getting to know yourself, that is, the mind which are vaster than just analytical intellect is the point here. It is not against science either. Just browse the relevant topics in the website of the Stanford Encylopedia of Philosophy. You are the consciousness that is aware of the fact that you are aware. You are aware of your thoughts and you are more than your thoughts. Brain is just an organ. we are not just our brain or thoughts. The mind is a much different thing. That makes a huge difference

Like @Naeem SOA said, you can never kill the ego off. Allen Watts has a beautiful analogy for this. He resembles the ego to a thief in a multi-story building besieged by the police. as the police chase, the thief goes to a higher level. Thus, as you try to kill the ego, with each blow, the ego presents a higher level of itself.

I had the same question. About the mantra Abhung Hain. The translation came to me. I kept vibing with it as I am doing with this one. One day I was venting out to my wife about how we are great within. And I kid you not. It was almost word for word the translation of the Abhung Hain mantra.
