Received a call that my birth mother passed away 5 hours ago… all alone. Broke down at first, but now I feel nothing, I’m on auto pilot. My spirit led me to this song, It feels like a chunk of my heart has gone with her. May other grieving hearts heal in time, and I hope mine will too.

“You’ll never see us again” Going though all the stages of grief after my mother passed away and thinking I thought of everything that I could cry about. That line really added an extra layer because I’m not a big heaven and hell believer but my mom was. Just thinking about her maybe being alone in her Journey and me still having my loved ones too support me really broke me.

Lyrics: Spirit of my silence I can hear you But I'm afraid to be near you And I don't know where to begin And I don't know where to begin Somewhere in the desert there's a forest And an acre before us But I don't know where to begin But I don't know where to begin Again I've lost my strength completely, oh be near me Tired old mare with the wind in your hair Amethyst and flowers on the table, is it real or a fable? Well I suppose a friend is a friend And we all know how this will end Chimney swift that finds me, be my keeper Silhouette of the cedar What is that song you sing for the dead? What is that song you sing for the dead? I see the signal searchlight strike me in the window of my room Well I got nothing to prove Well I got nothing to prove I forgive you, mother, I can hear you And I long to be near you But every road leads to an end Yes every road leads to an end Your apparition passes through me in the willows Five red hens - you'll never see us again You'll never see us again

If a song could capture, the highest form of "happiness" or "love" feels like, this is it. For me this song, like a lot of his songs give a feeling of whats it like to love. but to me the is the strongest out of all of his songs of the feeling of happiness and love encaptured in a song. it reminds me of "being out in nature with a blanket with your loved one and are both on the same level of attraction"

@@juliocaliman The tuning is GCEG, so second inversion of the C-chord. The highest and lowest String both have the same tuning (which is a G). Funny, because Ben Howard also likes to tune two Strings to the same Note. Sounds really nice!

@tzarathemachine9 жыл бұрын
+ruuu ruuu it's a guitalin
@HereComesThatIndian9 жыл бұрын
+ruuu ruuu He's playing a guitalin (with a custom pickup it looks like), which has 8 strings but only 4 "courses" meaning that strings are played in pairs like a mandolin or a 12 string guitar, giving that chorus effect (he fingers 2 strings at a time). The first 6 strings are tuned in unison pairs (1 and 2 are the same note, 3 and 4 are the same note, etc...) but unlike mandolin, 7 and 8 are tuned in octave. Traditionally, melodies were played on the octave pair while support was done on the other 6 strings. I played one for a church gig not too long ago that had a few songs that called for one for some reason.... Fun to play, hard to make sound good, lol
