The first half of the song makes me feel strange. It sounds like something that would be playing in the background when someone you love has died and youre forcing yourself to step out into the world even though you don't want to and still managing to see the beauty in things.

Love that this is so bare, _non finito._ Without going into an extended meditation on "the hidden river of my life / pursued by love / the whispering stone, the valley ford ..." Sufjan manages to convey so much yearning and longing.
