Today I wanted to talk about #BTS or bangtan sonyeondan boys. I wanted to get into what was going on and everything that happened. I really appreciated how Yoongi answered that question, honestly. Because he knows that no matter what, everyone thinks about everything differently no matter what the topic at hand is (obviously it was dating, but I do believe this is how he thinks about fans overall and their reactions to everything that goes on). It's just very sweet to be reassured that at least Yoongi doesn't think of us as one collective body, but individuals that help make up that body. You know?

All I was trying to get across is that it's wrong to assume anything either way and that clearly, after 8 years, any of that "shipping" stuff has not ruined their friendship. They also can't even "look" at other idols without starting a dating scandal, for which pabo American interviewers certainly don't make any better. Always with inappropriate and over used questions the boys have already answered too many times. They worry more about that, making Army's happy (even though we think they're already perfect) and haters, than silly ships (outside of the weird and crazy "ship wars" that is).They've weathered just about everything and I have full confidence that they will continue to do so. People do need to stop with the colloquial terms and ideals though because BTS is anything and everything that is not colloquial. They are progressive, forward thinking, freedom fighters. They have declared things universally that are not very well accepted in their country and I love and admire them so much for their courage to stand up for what they believe is right. I don’t ship them with anyone and that includes women, so it’s not always about homophobia. I just don’t feel comfortable with it unless I knew it was a real thing only if they have admitted it. That’s just me. I can’t stop others from doing it though. I just don’t like the ship wars, hating on other members who “ruin” their preferred ship, it can get pretty toxic at times. If people are light hearted about it and don’t take it too seriously, it doesn’t bother me as much. It’s the ones who analyze their every move and breath, acting like they know what they are thinking, photo/video edits to show a narrative and the aforementioned ship wars and hating on members. The thing that was going on earlier that made me scratch my head was some Army were upset with their recent interview with Wired, they were posed commonly asked questions that are searched on Google, you might have seen it. One was “who are BTS’s best friend?”. Hobie said Halsey and Tae said Ed Sheeran. They were upset that they didn’t say “Army”. Lol Until some started to rationalize on Twitter that of course Army is not their BFF’s, they are their life partners, married to them so to speak. At least they weren’t friend zoned 😂 I was like “WTF did I just read?” I know BTS like to romanticize Army a bit but come on 😂 Let’s be reasonable people lol. But the ship wars that went on, oh that’s another shit show I can’t deal with on Twitter. It’s like if you can’t be light hearted about it, time to take a step back. All their moments are cute, but hard to enjoy when the toxic shippers come out. Then you have the non shippers getting triggered hard, which they need to take a step back too, and I say that as a non shipper. I’ve got many reasons why I don’t ship which I won’t bore you with but like I said, the only time I really mind shippers is when they get toxic. If they aren’t toxic I leave them alone. Glad to run into some sane Army like you and I think generally most are, but it’s a very loud minority we find online. We just all need to get along! Hope you’re having a great evening otherwise lol. Having recently watched all their old stuff (bombs, episodes, etc) I get the idea that earlier on, they kinda had this thing going that 'army' was their girlfriend, and that everything they did was for army and because of army. It kinda looked like they were feeding into this narrative that stimulated young fans to think of them as their boyfriend, with all the photo cards, writing letters to army, singing songs to army, etc etc... them having an actual girlfriend would of course not work for this strategy. I would totally get it if they want to move away from that and have a less intimate, more mature relationship with their fans. Normalising them dating and their fans accepting this is a huge part of this. I agree with the person saying that the industry as a whole should come together and just decide to let their idols date in the public eye, so it becomes normal and accepted. It must be hard for idols to either have a celibate life or a secret life completely hidden, I don't know how they do it.. :(

There are those that go way too far in their ships and those will be highly upset whenever BTS decide to announce they're dating someone whether it's outside someone's specific ship or not. It's their life and their decision on who they want to be with. Others that will be upset will be those delusional ones that say their idol is supposed to be single to satisfy their fantasies. Both of these kinds really need to grow up. To be honest some will leave the army fandom whenever the guys decide to say they're with someone and that's fine. Weed out the fakers and undesirables. Real, true army will still love them and support them regardless.

I hate it when a idol just see, smile/ make any expression, little touch or whatsoever happens, we tend to start shipping them in a romantic way. I think romanticising should stop. Imagine how UNCOMFORTABLE it would be for them or how awkward they will feel to see each other (whichever idol is being shipped) plus they have this pressure for their Idol Career. Like if you disagree lemme say, imagine you and your friend (whatever their gender is) being shipped together, people making rumors bout you or even some other disturbing things. I think people really need to get a grip. Bits will one day date. Whether it’s men or women. If you love this group and your an army, you’d be supportive no matter what. There are people in Korea, china and Japan who are gay. Whether they pursue it or not or marry the opposite gender because they know they will be ostracized if they come out is a whole story altogether. But if you love BTS then love them and accept what makes them happy

I agree, I mean if we enjoy all the entertainment someone gives us, and we like the public personalities they show us, we should want the best for them. I think that the ability to do normal things that we enjoy, as in going out to dinner, shopping, hanging out at a park and dating of course. This would give them a chance to just kick back and relax and be themselves instead of living in a bubble. All the above things are just normal things that of course young men their age group(I am much older than any of them), do without it being a big deal. Not doing these things is bad for their mental health, and stress effects both their mental and physical well being. IF we are TRULY fans we should want the best for them, not be all omg you cant do this or that. If we are gonna have a hissy fit and leave them negative messages or threats we dont have the right to call ourselves fans or ARMY. This group is totally about positivity and acceptance and they help us to accept ourselves as we are and get rid of negative things in our lives...We should always send those ideals back to them if we send them a message, letter or if we are lucky we might one day actually see them out and about, maybe sightseeing while they are on tour or a vacation. We could be excited by seeing them, but please give them their space and privacy. Meaning dont run up to them or invade their time to just be human, not idols. Just people like us. It is called RESPECT, they give it to us ARMY, we OWE it to them to return it.

Humans survive off of love and affection. To not want that for them is selfish and INSANE. I’m much older than them too. The boy bands when I was growing up all dated and we accepted it. Yes we wish it were us dating them but we still loved them and went to all their concerts nonetheless. I love the Asian culture but I don’t get why Korean culture is like that.

It is not just a Kpop thing. I have been a fan of hk celebrities since the 80s and many of them lie a lot about their love life. But the sad part is that after they get caught, they face a lot of backlash. It is good to tell the truth. I must say fans are more understanding as they get older. Like one of my favorites from China, Hu Ge, his fans are very supportive and hope he dates and gets married. He is nearly 40 so that is understandable.

As an American, I don't understand the mentality of "He's mine. I'd be angry that my bias is dating." I had crushes on celebs when I was younger. @@winkpinky1445 You have a point, but the problem with not being a gay shaming arena is that then you get these major inter-fandom fights between this gay ship and that gay ship. And people on both ships end up saying some absolutely horrible things about the 'rival' one. Not just about the shippers, mind you: about the members themselves. That's the kind of hate that can make things very awkward and difficult for the members, quite apart from being a really miserable experience itself. Imagine: 'I cuddled up to A and now people are hating me for it and wanting me thrown out of the group?? Saying I'm 'stealing' him from B? Saying B 'hates' me and A is 'uncomfortable' around me?' It's hard to shake those kinds of comments off. I just hope the ship-war people who say such stuff get disciplined- like banned from Weverse and booted off the guys' Twitter accounts. Having an opinion is one thing, spreading insults and hate for something that's largely in their own minds anyway is totally other.

The problem is that people think they can control their idols, for whatever reason. Edit: People constantly get into fights with other shippers who are shipping, say, Lisa and Jungkook as well. It’s not about supporting gay people, it’s fans developing the mindset that, because those people make music for their fans and they’ve become so popular because of them, that they have the right to tell them what to do. People get so caught up in calling out 'bad' behavior and insisting that 'it's not wrong to be gay, or female' are sometimes inventing problems where problems don't exist. Similarly, and this applies specifically to being gay- they insist on seeing gay behavior, and 'supporting' it, when they lack facts and context. And then when someone points out, 'That's not necessarily gay,' they respond with outrage. Insisting people MUST be gay because they totally support homosexuality is really no better than insisting people CAN'T be gay because they won't tolerate that.

I respect Suga for giving us such a mature and wise answer. I personally would love to see the members dating whoever they want, since they deserve all the happiness and love in their lives. Also, the ARMYs who wouldn’t take their dating news well are probably individuals who are on the younger side, so once they grow older, I’m sure they’ll be a lot more accepting of the members being in a relationship. 👍 Edit: I don’t mean that BTS needs the fan’s approval to date 💀 I just meant that a lot of the fans are young, so as they mature/grow older, they’ll start being less mad at the fact that their bias is dating someone 😂 why are some of y’all misinterpreting my words?
