The apology for this is not for fans to accept. Majority of you all are not even Korean so his apology has nothing to do with you. He committed a “crime” in Korea that endangered Korean public and himself, his apology is to those involved. While I do think it’s a bit blown out of proportion I do think they’re making an example of him because he’s a big artist and they want to make sure citizens do not follow his lead. Yes he was harmless but imagine if he mistakenly went in the road and cars getting to avoid him. That’s why it’s illegal. Even in the US some states it is illegal to ride a bike drunk. It’s because safe drivers might try to over compensate & not hit you. They’re making an example of him and overdoing it but an apology should’ve been good enough. Meanwhile the NCT guy is given his respect and privacy for months.

Today, I've heard that Army is making lists of names of SK journalists and reporters who have been fair/respectful to BTS and those who have not.
@ystrw5 ай бұрын
K-pop Shock's Reporter Kim was saying that the Korean rumor-mill is talking about media shows banning Suga. Which would mean banning all of BTS, because you know our guys are not going to show up to any event that doesn't welcome all seven of them. Meanwhile, all the major networks in the US, Canada, the UK, across Europe, and Japan, are already lining up to get BTS on their shows in 2025-26. And their own country might ban them. That is so completely messed up, I can't quite compute; not that BTS ever needed home media exposure (which is why K-media resents them so much), but the sheer lack of self-awareness and the potential consequences is incredible.

The international audience and press were shocked by how the incident was blown out of proportion by Kmedia. It was laughable and despicable at the same time. Those reporters who were unleashing a witch-hunting campaign and painting Suga as a criminal failed. Many international outlets wrote an article about the incident and you can see how they were confused about why this was painted by Kmedia as a huge scandal. I personally would doubt the professionalism of those Korean journalists who participated in this harassment campaign. It is just shameful.

Stay strong Suga and Armys! In my opinion, it has nothing to do with "how the people feel" and more about what narrative the main stream media wants to "let the people feel." This is an absolute slam on BTS and on dear Suga. These 7 men have never done anything bad. All they've done is dedicate their younger years to their country and to their fans. The fellas have worked so soooo hard to stay flawless in an industry filled with corruption and manipulation. I am stunned at this. I thought they were loved in SK. It is so sad, they gave their all... only to get this sort of treatment in return. Disappointing.

Whilst discussing this with fellow Army, we came to this conclusion. BTS have travelled the world teaching self love and being true to yourself and gaining a great reputation which also included their country of origin South Korea. Then this incident with Suga occurred. In a few days the Korean media have completely destroyed the countries reputation that BTS had nurtured. The whole world has watched this and no one is impressed. And to do this to one of the very people who brought South Korea to people's attention too. Talk about an own goal. They have lost credibility and now seem untrustworthy. I know it's not all media but unfortunately the rest will be tarnished by this episode. BTS have done so much for their country and are so patriotic. They truly love South Korea and they must be so hurt by all of this. I pray that Suga is okay and am glad that Jin is no longer in the military. He is just what Suga needs right now. We know he came be goofy and silly but he is also straight talking and no nonsense. I adore all 7 of these guys and my life is better for having them in it. Thank you for taking the time to do this. It means a lot.

His apology letter upset me so much. Obviously I had to read a translation. So there was no nuance, and he really did seem defeated. I was so worried about his mental state. It was also weird that he never called us ARMY. If you know BTS lore, they have always been careful to make a distinction between "regular fans" and ARMY. So people were trying to figure out what that could be about. More optimistic people suggested that he was trying to distance ARMY out of a sense of protectiveness. But everyone knows who his fandom is. So that really didn't make sense to me. I was thinking perhaps it was that he knows he doesn't need to apologize to ARMY, because we don't require this act of humiliation over such a silly incident. So the apology was for the regular fans and the types of people who would want such a statement. But I don't know. The elephant in the room is how damaging this situation is to his mental health. Naturally, given the history in kpop with tragedy, ARMY is scared for him. We realize he can't just say whatever he would naturally want to say to us right now. It's been really hard not knowing anything about how he's coping. On the one hand, he's very strong and has a rebellious streak that could be keeping him from becoming depressed over this. On the other hand, he has issues with anxiety and a history of having depression, and being the "first big scandal" of BTS could really be messing with his head. ARMY is pretty desperate to be sure he knows we love him. The haters and antis have been absolutely despicable. It's more obvious on X, where people have trended malicious hashtags, pretending to be ARMY who want him to leave the group. Lots of other ugliness too. I hope he's avoiding social media and has people who love him only showing him the good things. Obviously, ARMY would NEVER, EVER ask him to leave. As if the other members would agree to keep going w/out him. No way. So I really hope he's coping well. Shame seems to be a very big deal in Korea. I hope people like you and others keep speaking out, and pointing out how vicious and backwards this type of witch hunt is. Because that's the truth. There's absolutely no rational reason for this. None. "The culture is just different." I'm sorry, but hate crosses cultural lines. It's a universal evil. I'm seeing so many ARMYs expressing deep disappointment in South Korea for allowing this sort of thing to happen to a man who has helped uplift the country to such a high degree. But people are seeing the dark side now. This issue with jealousy and hounding celebrities to death is shameful. It SHOULD embarrass people. It's been so hard for international ARMYs, because we want to shower him with love and visible support, but K ARMYs have warned us and told us that doing that kind of thing in Korea would have a negative backlash. I have had a hard time understanding that. But the way you explained the emotion of jealousy and what jealous people want, it actually makes sense now. Brazenly showing love in a spectacular way would make them hate him even more. So we've had to keep all the loud support on the international side. Thank you for this thorough breakdown, and thank you for your take on his letter. It's more hopeful. I really just want him to be ok, and to know that ARMY forgave his accident with the very first apology. Immediately. We love him relentlessly. If he sees all this love, it's probably making him cringe. 😅 But he needs to see it! Because it's the truth! Thank you again. I really appreciate what you're doing w your channel, trying to help us understand the nuance of these important issues like MHJ, Scooter-gate, etc. It has been very helpful to me. 💜🙏🏼

I was reading an article today about a scientific study where it came to light that about 50 % of koreans suffer from chronic anger and thought about this scandal. They have to direct that anger and jealousy somewhere so their celebrities suffer. The ones who had less money were more angry. Would make sense that they would want to bring rich celebrities down how ever they can. That's maybe why the anti-culture is so strong. Just a thought.

Speaking as an older someone who has been in fandoms for 40muttergrumble years, I've never seen anything like what's gone on with him, and how people have reacted to it. It's been boggling to me. Then to find out that what he rode doesn't even require a license? What he did didn't MAKE anyone feel anything; ADULTS are in charge of their own feelings. ADULTS take responsibility for what they continue to think and feel after knee-jerk reactions are over with. The dark jealousy you're speaking about and the need to blame someone else for how they're feeling about themselves just shows me that those who reacted the worst need to do a lot of growing up.

I really appreciate your channel and it is now one of the only Korean "news," sources that I can trust: You edited this video for his fans and his dignity. Mad respect for listening like that and showing a level of respect we will never see from K-media. After reading Suga's last apology and hearing about the police station incident, I am so proud of how he continues to carry himself, but also disgusted things have been pushed to this level. It's really sick and mental that something so little can be blown out of proportion like this. It breaks my heart to see how quick Koreans are to tear each other down. No country is perfect, but what South Korea needs now, is for everyone to support and uplift their society, especially the youth. Also: thank you so much for your amazing breakdown of Suga's apology letter, something I didnt even know i needed. Wonderful incite. that has brought me more hope. ❤

Just to say, you can also trust Reporter Kim at K-Pop Shock. He's a solid ARMY and though he doesn't go into the kind of detail Sean does (at least, not in English) he does bring facts. He also has some sources in the music industry and so occasionally offers some 'sources are saying' tidbits that often turn out accurate.

Thanks for all of the information and balance. I think the media has actually lost a lot here and have been exposed for the sick childish things they are. Now if only people will stop listening and watching them and helping them create the stir. I did look at some pictures of Suga from secondary sources, like yourself, not the main media videos at the police station but only to try to see how he is doing. His well being has been my only concern and I agree with you I think he looked more annoyed than anything else.

Thank you ❤ as I said it was a set up and they have no case. And yes he was eleqount and they look so cheap. Violating everything they could. The backlash international is huge. These south korean reporters are now known as blackmailers, and fake globally shaming their own people and country. Good job done, and not to restore. However Suga is Loved worldwide.

It’s super ironic, that the rest of the world did not give this ANY attention , at all. Even though there was a world star involved, it wasn’t considered important enough to report on……IT WAS ONLY AFTER THE FALSE REPORTING, NEWS CHANNELS PLAYING FALSE VIDEOS, AND THE OVER-THE -TOP POLICE ACTIONS, THAT PEOPLE FROM ALL WALKS OF LIFE, TURNED THEIR EYES TO THE TOXIC KOREAN CULTURE. 😢😢

I am from the Mediterranean and have no personal connections with SK or persons of Asian descent. From watching KDrama, to my astonishment I realised that heavy drinking is a "social weapon". A weapon which is used to reinforce social disparities of all hues & origin. A phenomenon unknown in my part of world, the Republic of Malta. Alcohol is enjoyed & also often abused of!; acknowledged as a potential addictive substance that predisposes to health problems & antisocial behaviours but its use "as a social" weapon is never contemplated or countenanced. What happens in SK says much as to the true nature of today's South Korean society. So much for the "soft" cultural power of KPop or KDrama! This turn of events involving Suga is showcasing what the true face of South Korea is .... and it is not a pretty or entertaining one.

Thank you so much Sean for the re-edit video and not showing any of the unnecessary pressure Yoongi went through at the police station. I agree with what you had to say 100% and something needs to be done about the k-media, what they write and how they handle themselves. I hope when BTS returns, that in true BTS style, one of the first songs they write and put out is about the haters and the bs that is the k-media as that would be perfect karma on top of what us Army along with other Korean celebrities have accomplished in support for Yoongi! APOBANGPO, BTS = 7

So the police are afraid of the media. Is the prosecutor immune to pressure. Aren't there ambitious prosecutors who have political ambitious? On top of it, Suga said he would accept his punishment.That hit me. Do yoy know the caliber of the legal team working with Suga? I am concerned that he is feeling so guilty that he can be taken advantage by corrupt and/or weak prosecutor.
@lainey98155 ай бұрын
I believe Yoongi is tremendously strong and SO smart! No way is he being taken advantage of. He is playing their game to minimize the damage to BTS, then, when it is all said and done, he will be able to address it the way he really wants to. 💜

Ma Pan 100% rację!!! Według mnie to też było "polowanie na czarownice". (dla mnie osobiście to była ustawka). Zszargać dobre imię Suga i BTS. Ta okropna zawiść i zazdrość. Strasznie to przykre i niesprawiedliwe. Bravo. Podoba mi się postawa ARMY na całym świecie no i niektórych koreańskich artystów - przyjaciół SUGA. Mam cichą nadzieję, że to wszystko w końcu ucichnie. SUGA JESTEŚMY Z TOBĄ !!!!

I hope everything you are saying is the true because Yoongi and all BTS deserve all the love and all the respect for what they have done for South Korea and korean. I remember Jk respond to a hater during a live and saying: I don't care what you are saying about me, I care only about the people who care about me. It’s so sad that he’s being mistreated this way when he along with his BTS members are such a major contributors to their economy and culture society. Many international visitors go to SK because of the Hallyu and BTS is a huge part of that reason. It is very evident that jealousy is what’s driving this circus media but I know that Suga will come out a stronger man when this is over. His Agust D side will come out and create a song about this injustice and hate. He is a mastermind of powerful lyrics it will top the Billboard charts. He will be laughing his way to the bank when he profits off of this. I’ll be waiting for this album from him. Fighting!! 👊🏼
