It’s funny because he’s written /produced so many b-sides for BTS he’s one of the three musical pillars with RM and Jhope. So he very much is BTS. Although hilariously RM says Suga usually complains about their popular title pop tracks. But they always have a song about some sort of social commentary on their albums. And they’ve always had songs with beats this hard. Note he’s the only person that worked on this track he’s the sole writer producer etc. and he writes his own MV story boards. RM and Jhope are equally talented in rapping and have different flows. As far as his smoking it’s significant flex. K-pop idols can’t smoke it’s a big social thing also on tv they can’t even show someone lighting a cigarette if they do show them smoking. Several BTS members have had supposed scandals being caught smoking so here he ripped the bandaid off to everyone showing himself blatantly smoking. A middle finger to freedom in all things. He’s a grown adult over 30 now. 😂😂. Really no one tell this man anything he can’t do.

The funniest statement "How did BTS get him? I feel like he is out of place." Dude, you have a lot to learn about BTS. But that is a good thing because you will be treated to a whole lot of diverse quality music. And once you start knowing their history, you will learn that hip hop is the backbone of BTS music. With over 400 tracks between BTS and BTS members as soloists, you will find quite a bit of hard material mixed with their more vanilla popish stuff.

71 year old BTS Army here. Suga was the second member of BTS after RM, the leader. He took the name Agust D (Suga spelled backwards with the D and t for Daegu town his hometown.) for his more raw solo work. Almost all BTS songs have rap verses. BTS has rappers that rap instead of singers that rap. Suga and RM started in underground rap in their early teens. J-Hope was a street dancer and basically learned to rap from Suga and RM. BTS debuted as a hip hop group in 2013. The rap line of 3 members is hugely prolific as songwriter/producers and Suga is one of the main producers. All of the 7 members are songwriter/producers along with in house producers. This song is the middle song of Agust D's trilogy: Daechwita, Haegum, and Amygdala. The 3 songs are all very personal and reflect his inner struggles with himself. "The amygdala stores the visual images of trauma as sensory fragments...Traumatic stress over-activates the amygdala and when this happens, your response to fear becomes more intense, leading to memories of traumatic events..." (Online info) Suga/Agust D is the first rapper to sell over 1 million copies of an album ("D-Day") in 1 day. His solo tour last year broke records as well. Auga/Agust D is considered to be by many as the best rapper in Kpop and beyond and is considered world class. All three rap line members are insanely good. I recommend you watch "Guide to BTS: the Bangtan 7" by Taylor. It's an eye opener. Thanks for your great reaction! 💜

All the members auditioned and were picked to be in the grp yoongi was the 2nd member and produced and written a lot of their songs..they all have individual styles but when they come together they mesh well and their lyrics have deeper meaning if u actually take the time to understand them it’s rare that they write about superficial things it’s always something with meaning and they just don’t spew random lyrics behind EDM tracks 😂

All members of bts have different sounds/ style with their solos , they have unique individual personalities and when they all come together it’s great to hear a blend of their tastes. Suga is the 2nd bts member to join so it’s not necessarily ‘how did bts get him’ he joined as a producer /rapper and then was introduced to dancing , and eventually debuted along with everyone else . His personality in his music is quite hardcore but irl he’s like the nicest ,calm guy, people assume he’s quiet and cold for some reason , which honestly is so untrue

RM and SUGA were underground rappers before this. BTS has 3 rappers and 4 vocalists, they debuted in 2013 as a HIP HOP IDOL group. Their core is Hip Hop and R&B. They experimented over the years with different genre's but they didn't lose their core, their roots. They just don't hold to genre boundaries. Their agency Big Hit Entertainment was a small independent company when they signed with them, and they write and produce most of their own music. Their 3 fully English pop songs weren't written by them, but one of them they changed the rap lyrics to say what they wanted. They have music in Korean and Japanese mostly. I'll link you some songs to check out that are solo songs from each member and you can decide if you like them or not. BTS are not just poppy boy band. They are serious artists. And right now they are all serving in the military. All Korean men have to serve 18 months. “how did BTS get him?” that’s what makes bts special actually. you have 7 different individuals with incredible skills, unmatched work ethic and very different interests in music. in their solo work, each one gives you such a variety of colors and you would NEVER think they are from the same band. then you find out these 7 amazing musicians do come from the same band, where they merge all their colors and skills together and you’ll never be able to come down from that. i get that you built up your opinion on BTS from their most popular songs but that’s a typical prejudice that will surely be broken down once you dive deeper into them. thank you for your reaction!!

You need to watch this about 10 more times but before that, watch Daechwita. It came first. The third in the trilogy is Amygdala. Suga is a solid part of BTS, and has written many of their songs. The English songs were meant to cheer people up during the pandemic. 6 of the 7 members have put out solo albums, and then went to join the military. Before that there are 9 years of work, about 200 songs.

So, this song is the middle song of a trilogy that tells the mental health journey of Yoongi (Suga/Agust D.) The first song is Daechwita and the third one is Amygdala. In each one, he plays dual roles - a "bad" version of himself and a rebellious one who is fighting that. The trilogy is about conquering his traumas and his faults. He has always been really open and courageous about sharing his mental health struggles and writes really raw and touching lyrics about them. A Haegeum is a two stringed traditional Korean instrument played with a bow, and which you hear playing at the start of the song a well as throughout. A Haegeum represents the breaking of a ban, freedom from the forbidden, so this song is about breaking free of restrictions he or others put on himself. The corrupt detective also represents his greed and he is slaying his greed. Also note the two red chopsticks we focus on at the beginning and the end. Two, just like the two strings on the Haegeum. They represent his music. He both slays his enemies and feeds himself with his music. Also notice he has 6 guys backing him up. They represent his 6 brothers in BTS, who always have his back. There is a lot more going on, but I will leave it there. Since you have not seen the others, I don't want to get too deep into explaining the meanings, but if you watch the others, I will break it down. Also - here is something short and fun to react to. It's Suga doing the choreography he made for Haegeum just for fun. kzbin.info/www/bejne/ZquxY4yupLWhepo
@rachel.052611 ай бұрын
For how Haegeum is pronounced think haygum with the u sounding like uh. The opening instrumentals are actually produced by a haegum, a traditional Korean instrument. The word can also mean freedom or liberation from what’s forbidden or what’s restraining them. Suga is “smoking” (he doesn’t really smoke) to symbolize something that’s “forbidden” or seen as controversial among K-pop idols. The media and society are always looking to criticize idols for the smallest of things and Suga addresses this. I also agree with you that I like their B-sides and songs in Korean better than their all English songs. Those mainstream English songs (like 3 out of their 100s of songs in their discography) were mainly written by other people, so it’s not really their artistry. They were also released during the COVID era so BTS felt they could reach and touch more people with uplifting songs in all English. If you’ve noticed they haven’t released any all-English songs as a group since Permission to Dance back in 2021.

Suga goes hard with BTS too. All the rappers do, as you heard on UGH! BTS' music is incredibly diverse. They do Rap, Pop, Hip Hop, R&B, Neo Soul, City Pop, Rock, EDM, Latin Pop, Pop-Rock, Ballads, and more, all on the same albums together. Most songs are a fusion of styles and concerts include it all. They have hundreds of songs. They have 20 albums as a group and 11 solo albums among members. What you are talking about is the misimpression that the West has of who and what BTS are. They are not what you think. BTS were the underdogs of S Korea and took a ton of hate from all sides. They started broke and powerless. They speak truth to power unflinchingly and always have, from their first singles. They are musical revolutionaries. For a different BTS to what you have seen try MIC Drop (Steve Aoki Remix) or Not Today, or Baepsae/Silver Spoon.

You should listen to 'Stay Alive', which he wrote for Jungkook. You wouldn't think that the same person wrote both songs. He is a musical genius, who has a very broad spectrum of interests, the main one being rap, but he also writes for Kpop stars and collaborates with all kinds of artists. He does it all and BTS wouldn't be who they are without him. The cigarette thing was him making a point - some fans or reporters had photographed V smoking a cigarette or vaping outside behind a building and he got a lot of hate and overbearing 'advice' from the public. He is an adult and can do what he pleases - Suga got a little riled up (don't mess with his 'Maknaes' - Korean for Babies/Youngest, which are Jimin, V and Jungkook) and decided to defiantly include himself smoking in this video to remind people that they don't get to dictate what BTS can or cannot do.

Suga has two personas. Suga is BTS. AGUSTd is his other ego, hardline rapper. You should have watched Daewachita first. This is a trilogy. Daewachita, Haegeum, Amygadala. Suga is producer, lyracist, composer, pianist, guitar, mv concept director, actor, model, chef and more!

Early debut years (2013-2015) was BTS's hip-hop era!!! Check out Cypher pt 1-4, Fire mv. After this, they went in other genres. Newer, but stll hard, not pop - Mic Drop, On.

BTS has 3 amazing rappers and almos all of their songs combine rap and vocals. You should try to listen to most of thecomercial English songs. They have hundreds of amazing songs. I am 50 yo and I am amazed with the talent of the 7. 4 great vocalists and 3 fantastic rappers. They all write, produce and dance extraordinarily. They have solo albums, solo mixtapes and several fantastic albums together.

BTS was originally hip-hop. There is rap through out the discography. I suggest The Cyphers, Mic Drop, Fire, Danger. On is a great song. Run BTS the song (there's a show). This is 2 of3 in a trio. Daechwita and Amygdala, all 3 very personal. His album Dday is his most recent. He did a tour. Jhope did a collab with his idol Jcole. He did a remake of Chicken noodle soup. It inspired him. He released an album recently a d was at Lollapalooza. RM released a very personal album, Indigo, and another is coming. His rap and lyrics never fail. Hard rap, I like Joke. All 3 have older music on Streaming Platforms and SoundCloud. I know I'm missing a lot but it's a start. They started getting attention in the US and added more pop flare. Even it has rap..

BTS have rappers who just happen to be part of an idol group, whereas others are idol groups who happen to add rap. A very distinct difference. BTS NEVER makes the same song twice so everything track you hear will be a new experience. How many other groups can say that. NONE!💜

You asked us to tell you you are wrong. You are wrong. BTS was originally a hip hop group. They originally had 4 rappers and 3 singers, rappers being Suga, RM and J-Hope who continued to be the rap line after they became more singer oriented. The 4th rapper? Bloody Jungkook. Yep, you read that right, Jungkook can rap too. Three happy go luck english songs released during the pandemic are not representative of their sound. But if you don't like them, then you dont. Just seems like you are judging Suga's rap with a bias bc you dont like BTS. He's objectively one of the best rappers in the kpop industry

Ok, so I suggest you check out the rappers next, there are 3 of them: RM, Suga, and J-Hope. RM is the lead rapper and overall leader of the group, he's the only one that can speak English fluenly. Suga also goes by Agust D when he does his solo music, and it's also kind of his alter ego name as well. J-Hope is not only a rapper but he's also the lead dancer of BTS. Here are some recommendations of some music videos/tracks you should listen to: Suga/Agust D: Daechwita, Haegeum, Amygdala (in that order, it's a trilogy and tells a story), Agust D (self titled track), and Give it to Me. All those have music videos, but also listen to the songs D-Day, Huh?!, and SDL, there's no music video for those ones, but they're really good. RM: Joke (watch the music video with the English translation!), Monster (no music video but really good), Do You, Persona (under BTS but it's solely him on the track), Still Life with Anderson Paak, Wildflower, and Closer (no music video) J-Hope: Arson, More, Airplane, On The Street with J Cole, Ego, 1 Verse, Base Line, and HangSang (the last 3 don't have music videos but they're really good). Also check out the tracks Ddaeng and Ugh! that the 3 of them did, and their Cyphers that they also did together too, there are 4 cyphers. Cypher Pt. 3 is the favorite in the fandom but my favorite is Cypher Pt. 4. Hope you enjoy! 😊
