@oneadVANtureatatime4 жыл бұрын
I love the pitchfork thumbnail idea! They try to use all the beets by February or March. The longer they set the more chance of rot they have. They can make syrup out of the beets and store the syrup until it's time to make sugar. That was a great experience, we can't wait to do it again next year. 😀

Great, informative video! I have watched Adventure Van Man do this for a few years now. It's always good to see a different take on things. One question...do you buy your own clothes/boots for this, or are they furnished? The pay is great since they throw in a camping spot with full hookups, but since factories around here pay around $15, and even McDonalds will soon be around that. I'm not sure anyone around here would make the trip for that kind of pay. That said, it seems like the perfect job for RV'ers who need to build cash reserves. Thanks!

I live in Vancouver, Wa and have a beach house on the long beach peninsula. If you are ever in this area and would like to spend a couple of days at the beach, my house is open to you. It is easy to use... key is always out there. There is a dog run. I used to let folks take dogs out but had too much trouble with the boys wanting to claim my couch and chairs so.... now... no dogs allowed in the house. The house is a 2 min walk through the dunes. the driveway is fairly short... may 25’ but you can park in front of the house. Private gravel road. The house is about 2 mi south of Ocean Park, WA and about 9 mi. north of Long Beach. I REALLY appreciate the way you share the locations of the great places you camp. Take care, mary

We would love to meet up sometime! Your beach house sounds amazing. I just know Roodle would love the dunes. Thank you for the invite as it could happen. We are heading to Oregon this summer and from there we don't know yet. 😀
@nwlady18442 жыл бұрын
@@oneadVANtureatatime . Great! The beach house is just 40 min north of Astoria, Oregon. Realized my message was a little confusing. The house is a 2 min walk from the beach on a easy walking path... through the dunes. Another really nice thing... you can drive for many miles on the beach during low tide. There is a driveable entrance to the beach every few miles from the town of Long Beach to Ocean Park . Camp fires are allowed on the beach if it isn't too windy. Long Beach is a tourist town but not too crazy. The house isn't fancy... I don't rent it out... I just let friends and family use it. There is a 20 and 30 amp outlet available in the garage for RV plugin. Hope you can make it up there. I am sure Roodle will love running on the beach. I know my dogs do. 🙂 Take care.

Yes you got it all right! Some of the farmers drive their own trucks while others pay drivers to take their beets to the piles. They do get paid by weight and by the sugar content of the beets.
