Izzy, I LOVE this video and I've shared it because you do a great job of showing us what it means to be a responsible glider owner. A lot of videos make it sound like a chore and a nightmare but you show the beauty of it while also highlighting the cons in a way that doesn't make it seem awful. I have a question for you. What do you think about introducing a cage mate to my terrified, abused little rescue girl? She was ganged up on by other gliders, lost her tail and has scars all over her from the experience. Everyone tells me I need a cage mate for her but they don't understand what she's been through. What are your thoughts?

Funny thing about my suggies, they don't want to leave their cage. I still keep toilet seats down, doors shut, ect. But they like their home so much like introverts 😅

Great video!! I started with a single pair I purchased from someone with unknown origen a male and female bonded pair. I have had them for almost 2 years and I'm about to get the male fixed it's so amazing to watch the joeys grow ill be sad when it's over :( which this is the last litter for my girl. I ended up keeping the first litter (2 girls) I didn't have the heart to get rid of them lol and have sold the remaining joeys to other suggie owners who only purchased one because they got ripped off and couldn't afford 2 with their first suggie and were in need of a friend. The coolest thing is I started a FB group and all the people who have gotten joeys from me are members so I can see pics fairly often!! You are for sure correct about them finding ways to get out apparently amazon damaged my cage and my girl kept slipping out and I couldn't figure out how she wouldn't do it whenever I was watching her. One day I heard a crash came upstairs and she was eating a piece a chicken I know FML right lol. Lukcily I watched her for an hour and as soon as I pulled out the treats she showed me exactly how she was doing it and it is now remedied I'm so glad they didn't take a dip in the fish tank I'm so sorry to here about your glider :(. Keep up the awesome work!!

Lion x : I said the best part is the fact that they love to cuddle. As for your question on if I am an expert: no one is an expert sugar gliders have only been in captivity for about 30 years they are fairly new and not enough studies have been conducted to know everything and have facts behind it to prove it. But with that being said there is still a lot of studies that were done and enough for us to have a good grasp on proper diet care and environmental ways. Everyday new things are discovered. No I am not an expert but my job is exotic animals I am very knowledgeable and educated in this department. And if anyone has any questions I do not have the answers to I either 1: find the answer behind reputable sites and breeders or 2 put them in contact who specializes in the specific matter.

Izzy Silver I think he means that you explain all the habits of gliders good and bad. Its not just talking complete shit or making seem like the most wonderful pet in the world. You explain them for what they are and leave it to owners to have their own say :3

I only have 5 gliders and have 2 air purifiers in the room. I'm pretty sure you are just used to the smell. But people should know they have a sweet musky smell. I was totally surprised because I was never made aware of it.

@Cassaundragirard 8 жыл бұрын
Possibly but my mother is not into animals she would be the first to say something when she visits and most who visit my breeding program comment on how surprised there isn't a smell.. Might just all be in the routine and how often they are clean. But like any animal they will have their own unique smell and also have a stronger smell of not kept up with :)

Hey Lucy thank you so much for watching! They do have a smell but most are obsessed with it! It's unique! If you check out facebook.com/upallnightgliders there is plenty of info and even people's opinions on the smell most are addicted lol! I also do many live feed videos where I answer questions and more. I highly suggest tuning in. As for biting it all depends like an other animal like I always say anything that has teeth can bite anything that has nails can scratch :) but once bonded you will not get bit maybe nibbled on but not bit hope that helps :)

How do you trim their nails when they aren’t fully bonded. I just got two 3 years olds and their nails were long when I got them. I feel bad for them cuz they have a sticky walk lol. Can I wrap sand paper around a stick? Or can I use a bird stick?

when you said they don't go well with water, can they still drink water? or do they have other things such as milk? also really sorry to hear about your baby that u found in the toilet :( I almost cried! I'm going to have a sign above my toilet saying the same so people know to close it :) can't wait for my first sugar gliders! I am a little concerned about the biting but if I handle ferret bites I'm sure gliders won't be that bad :3

Where can you get a glider, and how do you tell if a 'breeder' is legitimate?
@Cassaundragirard
@Cassaundragirard 9 жыл бұрын
Where are you located? I can help you get in touch with a reputable breeder if you would like. You can reach me quicker by email or Facebook page facebook.com/upallnightgliders Or upallnightgliders@gmail.com Way to know if a breeder is reputable are these ways: -They are willing to answer any questions in detail - they have no problem with you coming over to see their breeding program - they give you multiple ways to contact you - they contract their joeys - their joeys have lineage - they will let you play with the joeys and parents and let you check them out. Those are just a few ways. Hope that helps feel free to email or message me take care :)

Katie. I think finding her a mate in attempt to have her not be lonely might be a good idea but you must also use your judgement. Here are my suggestions for you. If you do get her a mate get her a neutered male. You her is better more of a chance she will want the Joey as her baby and build a better bond. She will also feel more dominant. When doing intros I suggest having these items: A smaller cage (to keep them in for about a week to monitor them closely) A neutral pouch. (Use this pouch when you do intros I'll go more in details about intros later in this post) Yogies (too encourage) Vanilla extract (u take some and rub it into your hands and rub it on the gliders masks there smell so they smell like each other) A hammock and vine (which you will put in cage) And fleece blanket For intros start by having their cages near each other and swapping cage items so they get use to their smell do this for about a month. Make sure the cages are atleast a foot apart. Once they are ready to meet. Prepare the smalle cage with a hammock, vine, food, water and hidden treats. Take vanilla extract and mask both your gliders (at this point they are still in separate pouches ) Bring them to the bathroom and take them both out of their pouch and put them in the bathtub (no water) Let them interact little crabbing and running away from each other is normal Take the neutral pouch and place it in the tub so that they can both make their way into the pouch. Have your fleec blanket ready just incase they ball up in a fight. (U use the fleece blanket to separate them) If all goes well they will both eventually end up in that pouch together. Once they are both in pouch let them spend the day sleeping together on you in the pouch. Come night time take them both out of the pouch and put them in the smaller cage. (Do not put the pouch in) the hammock is where they will sleep keeping it an open environment reduces pouch protection and fights. For the next week keep a close eye on them even keep the cage in the bedroom with you at night to make sure you hear if they fight. Keep them in that smaller cage for a week then after a week transfer them to the big clean cage. If for what ever reasons they don't get along with the first intro just go back to keeping their cages side by side wait a few weeks and Continue swapping cage items for smell and then attempt intros all over again. Eventually they will click :) Hope this helps a little if you ever want to ask more questions of talk personally I am more the happy to help just reach me at facebook.com/upallnightgliders

I have over 20 gliders and no one in the house or that comes over can smell them. The smell they might get is from left over food not changing the bottom strays or wiping down the bars. If you keep on top of it then there shouldn't be a smell :) if I have over 20 gliders and their no smell a couple shouldn't be a problem :)

@emmasawyer5018
@emmasawyer5018 7 жыл бұрын
john 321 not really but you can let them go to the bathroom before you pick them up, because they pee when they wake up.
@midnightwolf2937
@midnightwolf2937 7 жыл бұрын
When they first wake up make sure they go, after that anytime they go to sleep in their pouch and wake up you know they are going to have to go so be somewhere that they can lol You can also stimulate them to go by taking a non scented baby wipe and rubbing it gently over their bums (kind of like a mother cat licking their kittens) and they will go then. So all in all no you can't "Litter Train" them but you can predict them pretty well
