Sugar Mountain Ski Resort in Banner Elk, North Carolina

This was our Christmas Vacation. Sugar Mountain is so much fun and only roughly 7 hours from Jax, Florida. We went when it wasn't snowing but when the weather is right they use the blowers to make it. The slopes were perfect and we made snowballs, and went snowboarding.
We paid for the whole day. You can leave and come back if you need to so if you stay close by like we did then you can take breaks. They also have a restaurant with pizza, BBQ, tenders, snacks, and typical drinks. You can rent a locker if needed. A medium locker for all day was $11. Slope tickets were $87 for the full day.
They also have clothing and equipment rental, but if you need to rent, I recommend going down the road to other places because the line at Sugar Mountain gets crazy. We rented the clothing there which didn't take long. It was $21 for two ski bibs all day.
