I'm so glad i found your channel! The ideia of allowing beginners to dance famous variations using steps that we already know is just amazing Being a beginner and an adult in ballet, i really appreciate your work and hope you do more of this videos Your explanation is clear and simple, yet still making it beautiful, thank you so much for that! I would love to see your take on the Esmeralda variation Kisses from Brazil

As a slightly more advanced dancer, I might try this routine adapted a little bit on pointe! I'd love to see some beginner/intermediate pointe variations. Some routines as is are way too much for me but I wouldn't consider myself a beginner either so it's hard to find things to work on for routines.

I quit 11 years ago when I was 15… my pointe shoes still fit me and I pulled them out today and did some exercises. That was rough. My toes didn’t want to angle the way they used to. I’m gonna try dancing without pointe. I don’t know what I was thinking
@lisahebdon17534 жыл бұрын
Thank you for posting this! I have never taken a dance class and decided that I wanted to teach myself a ballet dance through November and December as a personal exercise goal. I bought my first pair of Bloch ballet flats. There were a lot of warm up, stretching and barre videos posted by you and others that I did before and after I practiced the sugar plum fairy dance. It was hard putting together the feet, arms and head, but I eventually memorized the dance and performed it in front of my Christmas tree for my family. I've always loved the nutcracker. Thank you for making it possible for me to dance to one of the songs for myself. It has really helped me to have something to look forward to. I can feel your love and passion for ballet for anyone willing to work hard. Thank you for your hard work and encouragement.

You don’t have to wear pointe shoes to be able to wear a tutu. And you don’t have to be a girl ether. In my opinion. Male cheerleaders can wear skirts, schoolboys can wear girls uniforms. Princes can wear dresses, and of course male ballet dancers can also wear tutus. Wonderful video as usual.

Natalie, I've recently turned 15 and only a few months ago found out about ballet. I want to begin and hopefully be professional in the future, but there are no classes in my area for people of my age and they are too expensive either way. So far, I have been working on flexibility. Any tips for my situation would be appreciated, thank you :) (I do dance in school, but we have to create our own dances instead of being taught, which is why I like your easier choreography. Unfortunately I am not able to balance well and space is an issue.)

I'm glad you've found your love for dance and ballet. It will be difficult to train properly in ballet without having a teacher. You can dance on your own or with your friends for fun but it you really want to train in ballet you will need to find a way to go to regular ballet classes. For now it's great to work on your flexibility and you can practice your balancing too! :)

Hello Natalia ! I have a little question about pointe. I am 13, I am taking modern dance classes since a few months, I was a self-taught before (for a few months too), at home I do a lot of pliés etc, do a little bit of actual dance (ballet), working on pirouettes (and now that I discovered your videos I am gonna try them). Anyway, I do all of that, and I know I will never take actual ballet classes because I'm too old, and all the dance schools around me don't have a "teen beginner" level. So what about getting on pointe ? I'd love to do that but i've heard only the teacher can decide if you're able to get on pointe, and I don't have any teacher so... I really don't know what to do, I don't wanna hurt myself but also trying pointe shoes is my dream ! Can you give me some advice ? (also sorry for my english I'm french)
@NatalieDanzaBallet5 жыл бұрын
Hi Manon, I know that pointe seems really beautiful and exciting but it's so so important to go to ballet classes with a good teacher before you start pointe. You need to build up your technique and strength before you try pointe, it's very important to prevent injury and also because you will enjoy pointe much more if you are able to feel control when you are up because you have already practised a lot in soft shoes. Maybe ask in the ballet schools if you can join the class even if you are older. As an adult I have even taken class with 13 year olds, it doesn't matter about the age of the other students. The important thing is that you can learn from a good teacher. Best of luck! :)

I do ballet sand it’s my passion. I’ve been dying to do the nutcracker. I’ve never suggested it to my instructor. I’m guessing it’s for higher levels of ballet☹️

Is there a difference between a bouree and a curoo? Sorry I don’t know how to spell them

Susan Brown pas de corru is done in a parallel position traveling forwards or back, while bouree is done in fifth position and it can travel in any direction or stay in place

Susan Brown just to add, courru is a type of bird. Pas de courru means step of the courru, and the birds run with tiny steps but very quick steps and they kick their feet out in front of them. So this step should travel with very quick small steps with almost a small kick.

The full name of the step is "pas de bourrée couru". It's very long to say so some teachers shorten it to couru and some shorten it to bourrée. Although Bourrée is more confusing as there are other steps which are also called bourrée. Hope that helps!
