What a great design you created, Irene. When I first saw this, I thought of putting eyes onto the color insert to look like someone peeking out. Thank you!

Wow! Why did I put this off so long?!? I thought “Curves? I hate sewing curves!” But you made it soooo easy! Glad to be finished making facemasks so I can concentrate on this quilt-along again. Thanks, Irene!!!

So far I’ve been very hesitant with every row but, after completing them, I’ve been thrilled with the results. This row actually looks like fun to me! Can’t wait to start! One of the main reasons I started following you was that your English accent reminded me of my immigrant parents trying to speak English. Secondly, it’s obvious you have a truly sweet soul. That is such a joy to see in your videos. Today my favorite part is the yellow nail color to match the block. So cute! Thank you for putting this QAL together. It’s a joy to be taking part.

I was a little hesitant to try this new technique. After watching your video, I am no longer hesitant. Your instructions are great. I don't have tea bag paper so think I will try a lightweight interfacing. Thank you Irene!

Thank you very much for showing me this technik❣️ I didn't even watch the video to the end but started immediately to work, because I was so inspired! I did some letters with round shapes and they turned out quite nice. For the inner Circles I just used your technik a second time. 🅿️🅾️🔠🅱️

I am working on this row right now and it is so much more fun than I thought it would be! I was totally intimidated by the curves... and now they look awesome. I have done a little raw edge applique, but never tried reverse applique. Thank you for teaching us such interesting techniques, Irene! Cheers from Nova Scotia, Canada.

Looks like a fun row. I think I will take your suggestion and make it my own. I will try using yellow yarn and sewing little rays above the half circles to make it look like the Sun. We can all use a little sunshine right now. Thanks for the great tutorials. Love how your nails always match your fabric.

This is a surprise after so many very precise rows! I am needing to learn reverse applique for another project, so this will be helpful! I think this row will be a go for it one....A different learning 'curve' for us all!! I always love guessing who will be first to show us their talent 👏😀. Thanks Irene, and yay, I get to use my last colour! Elizabeth x

I have enjoyed the challenge this row has been, never did curves before. I used no mesh stabilizer that I use for machine embroidery instead of teabag paper and it worked great.

I'm so excited to try this...you are really pushing me out of my comfort zone! Seems easy enough - we'll see. Appreciate your happy attitude, you really are fun to watch and I'm really glad I'm part of this QAL. Stay safe and healthy...time to press on "SMILE"!

I really didn't think I was brave enough for the improv, just thought I would use the uniform stencil. My brain goes to exact lines and curves. But,...I did it for Irene. Lol! I loved it! So much fun! Couldn't get tea bag paper but used light interfacing. It was perfect. Geez,...I hate to wish away time but,...can two weeks go now? I can hardly wait to see what's next!😃😃😃

Wow, luckily I trained as a clothing sewist. I will probably sew the curves traditionally, as I have no other rows improv at this time. Keep safe and well.
@maplelassuk4 жыл бұрын
Now you have me really interested! Can you explain briefly please? X
@joshuaharper3724 жыл бұрын
Well, you can draw the finished shape of the curve on two pieces of paper. On one, draw another curve 1/4 inch inside the curve (this is the background piece). On the other, add a 1/4 inch seam allowance to the outside of the curve (this is the yellow piece). Match the center and ends of the curve, and ease the rest of the curved seam to match, pin a lot, and slowly and carefully sew the seam. Gentle curves are much easier to sew than tight curves like these blocks.

You could use freezer paper?
@pwomloliver4 жыл бұрын
Probably not. The tea paper or interfacing needs to stay in place ..
@carolynwhite90504 жыл бұрын
Yes you can but it is a different technique. You cut the hole out of the freezer paper, then cut the shape from the background fabric clip like she shows then you iron the fabric back against the freezer paper, then you remove the freezer paper and add the applique fabric and sew. So basically the freezer paper let you iron the raw edge back evenly before you remove it and sew the applique. Not sure if this makes sense, there are videos on this technique
