The vocal arrangement of BROKEN VOW I created for SUGARPOP was very complicated for Julie Ann San Jose, Rita Daniela, Vanessa Rangadhol, Pocholo Bismonte and Renzo Almario. Making Pocholo and Julie unlearn the melody they knew by heart and concentrate on the new melodies I created as counterpoint would be a daunting task for kids their age. Their courage, focus and dedication to their craft were tested but those qualities would be enough to get them over the hump on this performance. Though the singing was not perfect, still I was relieved by how they managed to calm their nerves and deliver another performance we could all be proud of as a team!

BACKSTORY. After the Grand Finals of Pop Star Kids Season 1, I aspired to prolong the careers of the four losing finalists - Julie Anne, Vanessa, Renzo and Pocholo. I was convinced that it would be just a waste of their talents if I left them alone to fend for themselves. I broached the idea of forming a teen singing group (to also include the Grand Prize winner - Rita Daniela Iringan) with Ms. Wilma Galvante. She gave me permission and entrusted me with full artistic control over the group. I asked Ms. JAYA to help me think of a suitable name. She came up with SUGARPOP! I loved it! I asked Ms. Darling de Jesus-Bodegon to consider adding SugarPop to the roster of SOP's talented performers. At that time, Ms. Darling was forming an all girl trio and an all male quartet for a new musical segment on SOP. A teen group (SugarPop) would be a perfect fit for La Diva and You've Got Male. The rest is history: Three Of A Kind musical segment became an instant hit!

ahh si Maestro danny tan pala nag simula ng SugarPop. di ko nakita 'to kasi wala pa akong pinoy channel sa tv network. at hindi ko pa kilala mga singers when my tv network got pinoy channels 2009 na. and kelan ko lang nagustuhan si julie when she covered the song of charice pempengco ,not the Pyramid but the other song,ang galing niya duon. na hit niya nerves ko so since then naging fan na ako. ahh si rita daniela pala ang tumalo ke julie sa singing contest na yon. not lucky pa siya. ano kayang nangyari bakit na misjudged ba? like when charice lost from the other singer dati ? and like naman duon sa the clash? si thea astley natalo and iba ang nanalo yong guy? ang galing kaya ni thea astley at malakas ang appeal no? well, hindi tayo judge kaya ganuon.
