RISHIKESH *travel guide* for Tourist Places, Street Food, Cafes & nearby trips: Haridwar & Devprayag

so true about the difference between Haridwar and Rishikesh. had been there just a month ago. Haridwar should be called the spitting capital of India. very filthy town and extremely greedy Pandits. both at Har ki podi and Mansa devi temple. they demand dakshina in an Extortion mode !! as if we owe them money !! Just adding a few points for budget travellers. In Rishikesh there are very clean hotel rooms with 24/7 hot water available even for 700 - 800 near Laxman jhula close to the 13 storey temple. its about 15 mins walk from Ram Jhula. I stayed in one of them for just 700 per nite. plenty of food options within 5 mins of walking distance. a very nice place for food is Vedic Dham. they serve Satvik food in a sit down table system. you sit on the floor and they have a kind of bench in front of you on which they serve food. dinner here was for just Rs. 200 unlimited. it was basic but delicious all cooked in Desi ghee. As for Haridwar there are lots of Budget hotels ranging between 500 to 1000 close to the railway station near Shiv Murti chowk. again plenty of food options nearby. from Shiv Murti Chowk one can walk to Har ki podi exploring the market on the way. its about 20 mins walk. Rishikesh is hands down way cleaner and beautiful compared to Haridwar. There is a shaktipeeth called Kunja devi temple in Rishikesh and the Neelkanth Mahadev temple is also an important temple to visit in Rishikesh. and dont miss the Beatles Ashram. personally to me Rishikesh is a very magical place. just the vibes there are Happy vibes. No wonder so many people came as tourists and simply never went back. I met quite a few French, Israelis and British citizens who call Rishikesh their 2nd home.

Nice video....I'm talking about haridwar.whenever people go to some other countries,they early spend money on various things and outing.but when they come to haridwar, they call poor pundits or shop keepers ,a scammer. These people in haridwar or rishikesh are trying to earn something for their living. It is very simple. It's a matter of give and take. And the choices people make

Rishikesh is nothing but a rural and a very undermaintained place.Risikesh is still a very much under-developed tourists place though it’s one of the greatest tourists spot Within India.The place is as expected much dirty and Old. The place has a very low convenience for the tourists.Thats why Tourists have to face a lot of difficulties Being in That place. Only a few Bus runs there At it’s own time. You can scarcely get the convenience of of bus. Tourists have to hire personal vehicles like Tata sumo and Alto type to roam across the Places. And The charge they want you must pay that amount to them.And That is tremendously unfair since you have no other comfort option apart from being agree to their demand. Else, You have to take a small rickshaw and toto type which are extremely painful with a multi travellers. In order to go from Ram jhula to laxman Jhula you only have the option Walk.The distance is Far long and The roads are most of the cases muddy and un-mettalled. Guys, Do not forget to carry a large amount of money with you as extra for payig the beggars because they will not beg to you rather It feels like That’s is an Extortion money which you rightfully pay. The place is equally unsafe For crime purpose and somewhere Nature wise. There is nothing much to see actually apart from the GANGOTRI river and Ram and Laxman jhula.

Todays temperature is now 6 to 8 degree …and i have experienced the cold only today else you can go out on single sweatshirt after 10 am.. Its been 3 month here now am staying here till monsoons..its peace here you can stay here no charge will be done..make your own food …nonveg not allowed

I just discovered your channel today and I found this video very informative. It covers all the important points which are important for a first time traveller to these places. Let me also add that this video was well planned, scripted and executed. Thanks. I have two questions; one, are there any reasonably good hotels in Devprayag? Two, if not then if I were to make Rishikesh my base and visit Devprayag, what kind of washroom facilities can one expect there. Are the washrooms in restaurants clean enough in Devprayag? I will be very much obliged if you could advise me. I plan to visit Rishikesh and Devprayag in November 2024 and stay at both places. I have been to Rishikesh once in 2011 but I have not seen Devprayag.

Hygiene differs from place to place, public facilities might not be sufficient, but you'll find few hotels and restaurants, maybe at a cost, but clean. Have a good time on your trip!
