Hell yeah man, I'm currently trying to learn to play a lot of songs from that album, they are just straight up bangers from start to finish

When I learn and play "laid to rest" by Lamb of god i fell like a real guitar player from that point. Helymun is awesome!! Cheers!

This song will be engrained in my mind til the day I die. I remember learning how to scream to the song as well as learning the drum part when I was 12. I promised myself I’d never forget how to play it and I’ve held onto that promise. I’m just not as good as I was back then 😅😂

This is a KEY to writing good music, the riff borrowing... there's an old saying "Judas priest already wrote that" it's an homage to this idea of the "riff borrow"

Great Behind The Riff. It is cool to quantify it that way, “borrowing a riff” from your influences. I know when jamming a lot of times working on songs you use the influences as a reference to the part you’re working on..ie: “it does the Maiden gallop part then into the Forbidden riff…”

Holy wars was the first song I learned to play.. Crazy to think I played it on a cheap Mexican acoustic w nylon strings at 13. I'm 27 now and in hindsight diving straight into Megadeth rhythm/lead was the best decision I made. Almost like skipping the entire game and defeating the final boss. If you can play Megadeth, you can play anything.

I really figured they "borrowed" this riff from my song "Floodline" (which is even on a 7 string tuned to A, released 2 years prior to yolo around the time they would've been writing it, on myspace featured as one of the top 10 unsigned metal bands in the US at the time, with the specific riff featured in a "heaviest riffs" video on youtube that had 10s of thousands of streams at the time etc) for years but guess not!
@hambone332716 күн бұрын
Yeah I guess not either because the only similarity between your riff and this one is the palm muted 16th note "turnaround". Sick song though
