Suikoden 2 Staff Credits

One of the hardest things for me to do is stay interested in a game I have had no prior knowledge of. But somehow you made that really easy with this game. Whether it's a testament to your LP'ing style or the game's greatness, I don't know, but I think it's a little of both. This is by and far the greatest first LP that I've ever seen by anyone. As far as the whole FF thing goes, I sure do hear ya on that aspect of it. Uhoh, running out of space...

This may be long, but it needs to be said. For one, you did an EXCELLENT job of lping this game, which is not an easy choice to lp, nevermind it being your FIRST one. You floored me and completely won all my attention, regarding your lp and this game. It was wonderful. Suikoden doesn't get enough recognition but I think you gave it a good showing, and got a lot of people interested. Hats off to you sir! your first lp was a smashing success! Suikoden 3? just give me the word.

Admittedly, maybe the same could be said for some characters here, but of course that's gonna happen when you have over a hundred of them! But the plight of the main three here was totally believable; there were even moments when they themselves questioned their own involvement. Sort of like Terra in FF6. That's the kind of thing I'd like to see again, 'cause I think that's more how I would be as a person, more how I think most of us would be. Okay well I've rambled enough, sheesh!

Thanks! I will definitely do Suikoden's 1, 3 and 5 in the future, depending if I have the time. College is priority though, and I'm transferring to a bigger college, so it may be tougher for me. With that said, I want to keep you guys happy with more Suikoden and other underrated JRPG's as well as cover some of the latest PS3 games. How do those sound for future LP's? ;D btw, for the cooking mini-game you want to collect recipes throughout the game to select at the menu.

I'm still working on the later three Suikodens, but so far, out of the series, Suikoden 2 has been my favorite. I would love for a Suikoden VI to come out after Suikoden Tactics.

Jup, I was looking for a way to get the prosperity rune in suikoden 2 when I found your lets play and i am very thankfull to that!!!! I kind off played the game parallel to your lp and it was very fun!!! So thanks a lot for all the epic randomness!!!!!!!!!! So about the game: It is one of the best rpgs made till now. I played Suiko1 and then two afterwards, when Viktor fishes you out at the very beginning it was for me like coming home...

I love your expression towards this game. Welcome to the club my friend. Nice you like Suikoden 2. I played this game when I was a kid and when I didnt know anything about english. But in that time, I know that this game have something like love, hatred, loyalty, betrayal, fun, and sad. When I got mature and learn english I play this game again and yeah, some of the story in this game makes me cry. Sometimes even hearing the Suikoden 2 music can make me cry.

Even though I never fully played through Suikoden 2, after watching this LP I can safely say I enjoyed Suikoden 2 over the original, specially story-wise. I still really loved the first game though. As for console RPGs in general, the #1 spot still goes to Final Fantasy 6 for me, up to that point I had played RPGs before, but that was the game that really hooked me for life. RPGs may have gotten prettier but I don't think any other RPG has come as close to my overall experience with that game.

i've never played a final fantasy or suikoden. i have watched lps of ff1, ff2(4?), ff3(6?), ffx(ncs!!), and suikoden 1 & 2 lps you did. i'd have to rate suikoden 2 the best. its got a wonderful story. the main villain doesnt want to destroy the world or fabric of time, etc but instead wants to destroy a nation, much more realistic. plus they took the less travelled path of forgiveness at the end with jowy, very powerful.

Huh? Well I wanted Lucahjin to do an LP on Suikoden 3. I'm not going to do another LP on any Suikoden for a WHILE. RPG's are a bit extensive to do, plus with college and work, I wouldn't have the time to do one. Metal Gear is much easier to record for me anyways. I'm sorry if I couldn't fit your description of "perfect". Overuse of the word EPIC is just a quirk of mine, and it makes me unique. Plus, if it works, then randomness can actually be enteraining, which I think it was.

Even though I remain a pretty big FF fan in general, I do think that FF7 is grossly overrated. One thing that a lot of RPG's suffer from is that they can't find a happy medium when it comes to explaining the protagonists' reason for being involved. They either don't explain it enough, or they over-explain it. Characters always end up having to come along because oh, they were meant to. It's either that or they have some big huge thing they gotta find out about their father, or some crap.

I have to admit, before watching this, all I knew of this game is that it was some generic RPG, but after watching it I think it's a really great game. It's got a great storyline, I love how each character is unique and although blank npcs exist, so many of the minor characters have personalities and contribute to more than just fighting. It also appears as though you have a lot of options for different playstyles by using different characters. It does seem like quite a pain to get all the stars of destiny, though, especially when some of the stuff you would likely never think to do without a guide, or are prevented by arbitrary conditions you have no way of knowing without a guide. I'm also kind of disappointed in the major battles, not in concept, but in how underutilized they were; so many of them seemed like either an easy win or a battle you're supposed to lose, and some of which you had practically no control over at all (The refugee fight, Shu's "final stand"). I feel like there was so much potential in the system that was just wasted by making them plot devices rather than challenges where you use strategy to win. Overall, though, this was a pretty great game and thank you for making this!

Ahhh, well still, I do suggest you skip Suikoden 4. :) Also, the 'epic' thing was just a niggling little thing over 130+ episodes, not really a full-on complaint. In the interest of honesty, towards the end here, I wanted to comment 'You keep using that word. I do not think it means what you think it means.' That said however, I don't think I have a 'perfect' description of a Lets Play. Yours was very, very good, *especially* for a first shot. Maybe the best that I've seen so far.

Good points here NCS! Not to dis on any of Square's masterpieces, but it feels like they ran out of good ideas. Enter Crisis Core and Advent Children. They really overdid FF7, it was a decent RPG until.... now. LOL

Yeah, really good LP, especially for a first. There's veterans who haven't done nearly as well. A little bit too much use of the word 'epic' however...especially when it doesn't technically make sense. You should do Suikoden 3, yes. I'd suggest avoiding Suikoden 4 though...skip right to Suikoden 5. 3 takes place 15 years after 2, in the Grasslands and Zexen, 4 seems to be a prequel, and 5....I'm not sure yet, but Georg Prime is in it, so it can't be too far removed from the time of 2.

Suikoden 2 is always looked at as the king of all Suikodens but I would say the STORY for Suikoden 3 is better. They made it both a cliche' "lets destroy the world" type game with the cover of many countries at each other's throat only to come together to go after the biger, badder country(Harmonia) and then take out the bad guy....something Final Fantasy XII tried to copy and failed at because the Konami people are better story tellers. What kills 3 is the gameplay...goddamn buddy system.

4 was pretty bad for a Suikoden. OK RPG but a bad Suikoden...although Snowe is one of the most interesting characters from the entire Suikoden series...almost like a Jowy without any courage or brains. V is a pretty epic game because it's basically Suikoden 2 with different characters and a different country. Seriously...go play that and you'll see the similarities.
