I can understand if you're at a boutique, michelin star restaurant having a curated/full course meal. Then it makes some sense if the chef is like "you eat it my way or not at all"....but at a chain restaurant?? Fuck outta here, bring me my lemons or bring me my coat.

Yeah, it’s kind of a ‘pride’ thing for certain restaurants (especially Ramen shops in Japan)… Speaking of which, Chloe got kicked out of a ramen shop because she put ice in her Ramen to cool it down since it was too hot for her. She couldn’t wait for it to cool down normally since the chef was pressuring her to eat it piping hot :/

This is why automated restaurants without human interactions are becoming popular in Japan. You can have pride, sure, but stop forcing others to do things your way.
@Spyduck
@Spyduck Жыл бұрын
It does depend on the restaurant owner. For home-run/family businesses, they may pride their way the food is made and consumed. This adamance usually doesn't present itself in chain-run or franchise businesses. What I suspect is that because the trend (apparently it is dated at least 5-10years ago) has ended, they now reserve their lemons for their shochu highballs which Japan is big on at restaurants and izakayas. Suisei asking for a lemon presents a conundrum with "how to refuse her politely" since they'd want to keep their lemon stocks for their drinks, and if they hand them out for free per customer (assumption), they'll have a problem with serving their highballs where the lemon stock belong to.

@@Graestra Why the frick would ANYONE want a sponsorship deal from a restaurant that wouldn't let you enjoy their food YOUR way?!
@Graestra
@Graestra Жыл бұрын
@@TheShiningEnergy It's not just about that one restaurant. When you talk shit about other businesses it can give you a reputation that can affect sponsorships from other unrelated businesses as well. It can also affect the reputation of Hololive as a whole, which affects all Hololive members, not just Suisei. It's also possible that that restaurant is owned by a larger corporation that owns other restaurants and businesses. And if what she said somehow impacted that restaurant's sales and reputation, they could potentially sue Suisei or Cover. So as they say, better safe than sorry.

the feeling is the same, I mean, they can charge you a little for lemon and garlic or things like this, but they can't: 'I'm going to teach you how to eat your meal and how to live your life', customers spend money bought their service, we don't own any debt to them. This is just not right. It has nothing to do with culture, it is just rude.

Wait I don't get it, why would they go out of their way to stop her from eating the way that she wants? They're not the ones eating, so why do they even care? I would never visit a restaurant like this again if I can't enjoy my food however I want, let me season my food however I like.

@SnowJester
@SnowJester Жыл бұрын
@@LtZetarn I mean I've been to many Japanese restaurant in Japan but this only happens in certain types of restaurant which I still don't understand their mindset. And it's not just in Japan, in other countries too. Some restaurants wants you to eat a certain way that's been prepared and seasoned by the chefs and I get it, but forcing a paying customer to not enjoy their meal the way they want is just wrong. Unless I'm breaking some sort of hygiene code or I'm causing problems towards any employees or other customers by doing certain things then I'd get it. Branding is not a valid reason.
@paincakes86
@paincakes86 Жыл бұрын
In high end restaurant it's highly encouraged to eat the way the chief intend to, since he spent time to prepare and season it in a very specific way, it's specially truth on a high grade sushi restaurant, doing otherwise may be interpreted as an offense, especially when you're eating just right in front of him. But well like MrZestful said, some JP restaurant got weird in house rules, even thought there's really no reason to enforce that, especially on a yakiniku restaurant where the selling point is to grill and season your favorite meat part to your liking. Complete nonsense. Edit: Oh timing. Yeah it's like you said, I agree with you, there's no valid reason.
@SnowJester
@SnowJester Жыл бұрын
@@paincakes86 I'll try their food without seasonings first to see if it's to my liking regardless if it's a high end restaurant in respect to the chefs that prepared my food for me, but afterwards if I feel the need for more seasoning or any other seasonings that may be questionable to others then I'm gonna do it. I don't care if it offends the chef after I tried it and I season my food if that makes sense.

Eh their loss really, losing a Comet who loves their food, I wonder if there are any info about this particular BBQ house. Also, if they gonna force ppl to eat like they wanted to, they better put a big notice in front of the store to warn ppl, its sound scummy to do that without early notice.

This is really an unusual story. Shows cultural differences, I would guess. In America, if you want to eat the food a certain way, the restaurant's not going to question it at all.
