Rest in peace Frank. I never met you, but this video of yours really changed my view on the guitar repertoire as a kid. Thank you for the art you brought to the world.

Thank you for the program notes. Oddly enough only a few minutes before seeing this video I was listening to Bream playing the Preludio, which I enjoy, but it makes far more sense when you hear the rest of the suite. Thank you for posting this.

From one classical guitarist to another, thank you so much for posting this. A truly masterful rendition of one of my favorites! Planning on learning this suite soon, and I'll definitely be looking at your interpretation for inspiration (and fingering!) I've also been to Santiago de Compostela several times, and knowing that this suite is about that place makes this even more special.

This is wonderful, Frank! "Cuna" seems like an evocation of the Hermit Thrush's song; one of my favorite sounds in the summer evening. Jay

Formidable! Thanks to Lily Pad for sharing other pieces of Federico Mompou that led me to these beautiful recordings of Suite Compostela (about Santiago de Compostela, perhaps the world's greatest pilgrimage site), by Frank Wallace. Exquisite!

Kathleen Keith You are so kind Kathleen! Compostela is an extraordinary place - I have some very special history there personally, so the Suite resonates in my soul.

One of my real favourite guitar pieces, played superbly here. Frank, if you read this comment - what was that Hauser like to play? I'll probably never own or play a real class instrument like that. Regardless of the guitar, you have achieved a marvellous tone and the whole recording is utterly enjoyable.

Very nice. I studied the suite in mid 70's with Ghiglia on a '56 Hauser. I'm relearning a few of the pieces. I'd love to hear the guitar without all that reverb.

Thanks! i agree the reverb is a bit much on this one - sorry about that. My CD recording is now available and is a great sound - gyremusic.com/products/omaggio/ - there are few samples on this page.

Ehh dat Hauser! Did u put some reverb or some other postproduction effect on the recording? Sounds great. Great playing and interpretation too. Generally I am not specially in love with this piece, but you make it sound very interesting.

Yes, I used Altiverb to enhance the acoustics.

it's a shame that you can't see his face ... what an idiot of a cameraman took these pictures, that's absolutely ridiculous. Then better no pictures at all, just the sound!
