Soi 11 was always my favourite place to stay in Bangkok when I used to visit on holiday. It is 10 minutes walk to both Nana and Cowboy, and the better clubs are on your doorstep.

Unbelievable changes over the years. I lived down Soi 11 in '73 - the last half of the street were Thai houses on both sides, on the left was a 10-ft wide waterway (small cement bridges to get to the gated houses). Trees on both sides of the road. Federal Hotel almost at the end, then a field you walked through to Khlong Saen Saep and a small wood platform to catch a long-tail water taxi. Almost no traffic on the road. At night you had to be a little careful as snakes occasionally like to relax on the warm roadway. It was a different world - vastly changed in 9 years but still recognizable - now it's like another planet. Nice to see you back.

yes, I was just thinking how it was in the mid 90s. Stayed at the Federal Hotel quite a few times, loved their pool and garden, and the 24 hour coffee shop which had a huge menu at great prices. All gone now and replaced with neon and high prices and the atmosphere of the real thailand also gone. But hey, people seem to love it as it is now...

I stayed at the Le Fenix Hotel in 2012 and it was quite reasonable. I stayed there again last year and it's turned into an absolute dive. Never again. Thanks for the vid 112!

Yeah i stayed there in 2019 it was fine but this year was absolute trash with the smell of weed everywhere and lots of cockroaches and ticks in beds, i left as soon as i checked in

First hotel I stayed at in Bangkok in 2004 the Ambassador. Then in 2015 the Saki Hotel a bit farther down both seen in this videos. Brings back memories.

Good to see you back, made that walk a few times in March (with a sprained ankle no less). Sorry to see those cheap bars go, good place for people watching - hope there is something on the main floor like restaurant or bars for whatever is built there. Stayed at Frasers, great rooftop restaurant. Just booked Le Petite Solil for $39/night for January (Have Holiday Inn Express as backup).

@@regnorse I've booked the bigger room for my next trip in January, 2025. The smaller room was nice, but not sure I would recommend, but worth the money. Stayed at Solitaire the end of this last trip, that I would recommend (very friendly staff).

Thanks for this, good video. I was going to stay in Soi 11 next month but changed my mind as some of those dress codes are ridiculous. I'm going to Thailand for a holiday not a business meeting. Looks like it's going too upmarket. Been wearing sandals and sleeveless shirts in Thailand ever since my first trip in 2005 and I'm not going to change now. Decided to stay in Soi 4 as usual.

My experience on walking sidewalks in Bangkok is that they can be very uneven in spots. Almost face planted twice. Great video as usual!
