Mahidervan had it in for Hurrem the moment Hurrem arrived at the palace. She even managed to get Hurrem thrown in the dungeon because Mahidervan refused to call her Hurrem (the name given to by Suleyman), and kept insisting on calling her Alexandra in front of Valide, Gulfsem, Daye, and Hatice. So Valide (the old crony bat!!!!) very cruelly had Hurrem thrown into prison, were Mahidervan (the biotch!!! ) came and tormented her. Even when Suleyman was very ill and thought to be on his death bed, Mahidervan confronted Hurrem after Hurrem told her that "she was born with Suleyman and would die with him!!" But Mahidervan told her at Suleyman's bedside that she would not die right away, a least not before watching all of her children die while she watched. With the politics in the palace, one could say that Hurrem stole Suleyman away from Mahidervan, but if you consider that this was a pattern with Suleyman in himself, then no she caught his roving eye but not stolen!! Suleyman was married two times before Mahidervan, and his first consort also lost his favour after he met Gulfsem who caught his eye and they were a pain for a while until Gulfsem lost her son, then she lost favour, but stayed on as a friend, then Mahidervan caught Suleyman's eye and he fell for her until Hurrem. So, yes, Mahidervan was jealous of Hurrem from the beginning because she knew that any beautiful woman in the harem could interest Suleyman's desires!!! And Mahidervan did have Hurrem's son Memhed killed by exposing him to smallpox, because like always Mahidervan blamed Hurrem for everything terrible that happened, including the deaths of her unborn child, her son Mustafa, and her grandson to smallpox. She was an arrogant, cruel, vindictive biotch!!!
