I think this is the biggest trial in Hurrem's life. Not when she fought a bunch of concubines or sultanas, but when she must choose between Selim, Bayezid, and Suleyman. All of them are precious to her but she can't choose all of them. But i think she did a good job because none of them are hurt when she's still alive. But after she died, everything become chaos.

Exactly, looking at the ones like Mehmed 2., Suleiman, Mehmed 3., Murad 4. I don't get how is Selim the terrible, I mean sure he killed his dad and thats messed up but Mehmed the fatih got his newborn baby bro drowned, than basically started the brother killing law and pushed his two sons against each other. Suleiman executed 2 of his sons and dozen grandsons. Mehmed 3. executed dozen of his siblings who were in most cases children and his son. Murad 4. is a chapter by it self, once you do some research on his brothers (those who lived long enough to reach his rule) you find out what a killer he was, he is so unlikable that even when the Kösem series did its best to put some logic behind him and make him likeable I still didn't like that guy

I will never give up my rights!" (Çem's tone explains that he didn't fight to defend himself or because his father's laws made him do so, he was fighting because he wanted to be a Sultan and he was considered to be one by many Turks in the south of the country, that's why he is known as Çem Sultan) Those messages from Istanbul by Bayezid and Cairo by Çem are scanned, translated and available online you can search and check.

Bayezid took many risks and didn't think of the consequences. His father is a man that you should not provoke and argue with. Reminding Suleiman of people that he used to love, will of course cause him to snap on his son , it's not enough that he feels guilt, regret and pain for his actions, here comes his son to help open the wound even more in his father's heart instead of helping his father to heal. I feel like Suleiman became truly alone, no one from his son's helped him to deal with trauma and no one could give him any psychological support that he needed
