@@freespiritwithnature4384 All cancer cells produce beta-glucosidase, an enzyme which splits sugar molecules with a cyanide group (cyanogenic glycosides, CGs) into cyanide and glucose. Normal cells have the Rhodanese enzyme, which destroys cyanide (in low concentrations). Cancer cells do not produce Rhodanese, so are much more vulnerable to cyanide. Cyanogenic glycosides are found in many seeds. f.ex. apple seeds. Some seeds may have very high content of CGs, so it is important not to eat too many.

@@bperez8656 Fiber stays in the intestinal tract until excreted, so only has an effect on cancers of the intestine/colon. Where did I write "don't eat seeds"? - I think you misunderstand my post; CGs "target" cancer cells, by way of the present/non-present enzymes.

It's one of my most in-depth videos ever! For that reason, I've also included a "timeline" in the description that shows ALL of the various things talked about in the video. Feel free to skip around... but then go back and watch the whole thing. I encourage you to share this video with your friends and family. Also, if you LOVE videos like these... they don't come cheap! It requires the whole community that's gotten behind my channel to make it happen. Learn more about that at foundmyfitness.com/crowdsponsor. I went through treatment for precancerous colorectal lesions for 3 years before I stumbled upon this video. It had gotten to the point in my treatment where my doctor stopped sounding hopeful and had begun sounding genuinely concerned each time she performed the exam and noted that the lesions had returned, each biopsying as precancerous every single time. It was at that point I started searching for videos on KZbin about it and at some point Google suggested this one. Given my science and technical background I am skeptical by nature. I am especially skeptical of nutrition as cure (though I do believe in nutrition as prevention). But the argument she made in this video, backed by very well spoken evidence on the backbone of biological sciences I already well knew to be true had me convinced that this was worthy of personal experimentation. I used to buy broccoli sprouts at whole foods co-ops when I was young and vegan, so I was no stranger to them anyways, but it had been probably a good 14 years since I bought them (usually because the alfalfa/onion sprouts I typically preferred for sandwiches were out of stock). I bought a 1 lb bag of broccoli seeds on Amazon along with sprouting lids for my mason jars and grew the sprouts and put them on every sandwich and salad and in every fruit smoothie I made before my next 3 month appointment that summer. Every 3 months for 3 years my doctor would have to biopsy and then take a blow torch to these purple precancerous lesions inside my rectum. I cannot tell you how literally bloody painful the next month is after each treatment. But that next treatment after putting broccoli sprouts on everything I ate for 1.5 months was THE FIRST time the lesion biopsies returned NOT precancerous. It was absolutely too coincidental not to have some correlation.

What does whole food contain? What is it?
@Scootir1854 жыл бұрын
@@smidefix8147 It’s simply eating the least processed versions of fruits, vegetables and grains as much as possible. So a salad would be a great whole food dish - basically raw veggies with washing and some simple cuts as the only processing. An Oreo on the other hand, even though it’s technically made from vegetable products, is pretty much the opposite of a whole food. If you’re interested there are lots of good books on the subject, but part of it’s charm is you don’t need to overthink it. Just walk into the produce section of your grocery store, and make as many of your meals as you can just from that part of the store. Whole grains (e.g. brown rice instead of white) and as little sugar as possible. I started after reading a book called “How Not to Die” by Dr. Michael Gregor.

Worth trying for a few months or do you think absurdly pointless? Because a human wouldn't be injecting or getting as much sulfuraphane as the mice in the study and I think I've heard DMSO is so good at getting things to penetrate the skin it even lets bacteria penetrate it so certainly would get sulfuraphane in the local area I bet.

I've started implementing 9 servings of non starchy veggies a day. It seemed like a daunting feat, but this plan works for me. For lunch I get 7 prebagged salads from Sam's club, broccoli crunch and sweet kale. $2.24 each and takes 30 seconds to prepare. They both have a lot of chopped up kale, Brussel sprouts, and broccoli and include nuts or seeds. I might add cucumber, scallions, peppers, or tomatoes. I throw away the dressing and use my own olive oil vinaigrette. Then for dinner I usually do roasted veggies, using the same vinaigrette, with Brussel sprouts, onion, garlic, red peppers, summer squash, or anything I have available. I also sprouted broccoli seeds and throw them in an avacado smoothie for my "treat food". So it's not as difficult as it sounds. This is part of my keto, but anyone eating 9 servings of veggies a day will lose weight because you're less hungry and more nourished.

I remember stumbling on this video 4 years ago(22/23 years old at the time); I dont know how exactly I found the video, but I immediately went ahead and added broccoli sprouts to my diet and even convinced my mom and we daily drink it for years now. She is diabetic and over 60 now; not very health-conscious in general and I believe it has had tons of positive influence on her health so far. As for me I've been struggling with depression since a kid and since adding broccoli sprouts all those years ago my depression has become very manageable. It also had a very positive influence on my cholesterol since my blood-work is similar to that of a "young god", a joke my endocrinologist often loves to make during my bloodwork.. regarding age? I'm going into my 30s now but I feel and look like an early 20 year old still...so I'm very happy and privileged to have added this to my life. I was so into this that I tried to tell and share it with my family or friends but they didnt really seem to care, sadly. I'm very grateful for your work and what influence it had in my life. My life is not really a party like most, but at least I can be proud of my health; athletic, no health issues and even passing stools have never been an issue anymore.... haha

Great story. The only hot tip I have regarding depression is a Dr Huberman and his KZbin channel 'Huberman Lab'. He's an active, published researcher who deal with the brain and optimal health issues. You may want to pick up that thread and follow it. I was like you, I found whole food at 18 yrs when I went vegetarian. I had to stop eating that way after all the carbs and lack of fat put me on the doorstep of metabolic syndrom. That's resolved now due to people like Dr Patrick. One question for you... how did your full post show when most posts show 4 lines maximum? ?

That empty feeling inside can only be filled by God. The real God. Baptize yourself and let me know what you start dreaming about. Self-Baptism 1) Be near water, shower, rain etc. 2) Say, “I accept Jesus Christ as my Lord and Saviour.” 3) Then say, “In the name of the Father, the Son, and the Holy Spirit, I baptize myself.” 4) Submerge or simply get soaked. A truly exceptional presentation of the base science findings behind this family of edible plants. A family member just underwent treatment for TNBC and her prognosis after treatment is dismal, based on SOC. This kind of information and a willingness to take the data seriously and apply it to "what can I do to improve my outcome?" may provide breast cancer patients with post treatment self care options that even the best oncologist teams most often fail even to mention after the radiation, chemo, surgeries, and removal of breast operations... you're on your own, for the most part, sadly. Thank you!

One angle missing in this otherwise excellent coverage of sulphoraphane is how it inhibits helicobacter pylori, the bacterium responsible for gastric ulcers.

I just read about sulforaphane's effect on H. pylori. I had stomach problems for decades, until last summer when I was lucky enough to be bitten by a tick. The doctor put me on an antibiotic for 20 days. After two days my stomach all of a sudden felt a lot better. Although the drug he gave me was only one part of the combo to kill H. pylori, taking it for at least twice as long, plus already taking a couple of other important medicines, it seems to have done the job. It took me a number of days of online research to finally find the answer. Now I have another way to fight H. pylori if it ever tries to come back! Doctors are intelligent, and usually caring, but there is simply too much for them to know, remember and apply, not to mention all the problems that get in everyone's way when trying to do their job perfectly every single day. We must be our own first line of defence by keeping our eyes and minds open to new possibilities.

Excellent presentation! Very thorough and covers a lot of areas regarding health effects besides being very scientific. Even if you don't sprout: just eat your vegetables, including cruciferous. Personally, I love using the steamer basket you can insert in a pot with a moderate amount of water. My favorite "go to" is the lowly cabbage. Advantages: it last longer in it's fresh state (just peel off leaves that get bad); it's inexpensive; and it is easy to chop up. Not to disregard broccoli sprouts pointed out by Rhonda Patrick, PhD, nor the other cruciferous vegetables, but I always have a head of cabbage in my refrigerator.

Thank you Dr. Rhonda... your research has changed my life! I would love to some day hear more about the effects that begin to occur upon the first few days of sulforaphane ingestion. Relating to carcinogen detox, heavy metal detox, etc. Did anyone else notice an intense smell of sulfur and heavy metals when they began to ingest broccoli sprouts daily? Even more intensely when the broccoli sprouts were steeped in 70 degree Celsius water for 10 minutes - per Rhonda's method? Me and my husband's clothes, pillows, entire apartment began to REEK of sulfur for nearly the first month of daily ingestion... The smell seemed to drop off though we still eat broccoli sprouts every day! I was struggling to clear my skin for over two years, relating to stress build up and chronic inflammation due to lifestyle, diet. I changed all that. Found a great diet that works for my body and simultaneously found your work on broccoli sprouts / sulforaphane. After four months now of near daily ingestion of broccoli sprouts, my skin looks more youthful and bright than ever... it feels like a miracle.

Rhonda this is so great and we appreciate all the effort to continually push this important information and research. But why isn't anyone trying to make this crucial information more accessible to the average person/athlete who care about their health and performance? Most wouldn't even take a second glance at content like this because it's too far above their head. They don't care enough to sit through such a video. We're getting really good at distilling the science theory behind health science but were god damn terrible at making it accessible and simple to adhere to. There's very little talk on practical application of all these theories and findings. The only person I've seen do this well is Tim Ferriss with amazing results. But he does this sporadically as his focus isn't solely on health. Rhonda you and your peers have incredible knowledge and experience. You guys are the top 1% of what you do. You've developed the platform to deliver the information. But can we start a conversation to figure out how we can deliver this information more effectively to the average person/athlete who cares about their health?
@charstringetje8 жыл бұрын
Alex Sandalis let me start the conversation with the request to please, please, please not let Rhonda even consider dumbing down her videos. There's enough watered down anecdotal health content on the web as it is. Enough "Bite size" health videos that only provoke one response in me:"citation needed". The only problem I have with the accessibility of her content is with referenced papers that aren't Open Access. But that's a problem higher up the chain of information flow. I love how in this video she briefly explains that correlation without a plausible mechanism is just correlation. It is precisely the jump that many "popular" interpreters of scientific research erroneously make. Instead of making this video, she could have written a paper on this literature study and just add it to the pile of literature. This presentation of her findings strikes the sweet spot, at least for me. PS my mom already did a great job in making the practical suggestion that flow from this, when she said:"Eat your veggies." 😉
@FoundMyFitness8 жыл бұрын
Hi, Alex! It seems like your channel is just the type of content you're talking about. There's probably room for both types. Why don't you animate your cliff's notes of what we're talking about here today? I think that'd be really cool! :)
@AlexanderEmmanual8 жыл бұрын
Thank you Rhonda for taking the time to reply. I agree, there is room for both. I think this is a great idea that could help A LOT of people. For now, I do a lot of that on my website here: alexsandalis.com/optimising-human-performance/ One day I may do it on my channel, we shall see but I am steering clear from health videos for now. But I shall share it with you if it's ever done.
@AlexanderEmmanual8 жыл бұрын
I agree Chris. I wouldn't want her to dumb down her videos either. Like you said there's a heap of click bait bs out there it's crazy. I think that's a great comparison between making a paper but instead making a video. I didn't consider the other side of it. So I can see how she fits that sweet spot for many like yourself. I'm probably not smart enough to understand her videos fully, but I feel adding in an additional practical application component would be helpful to individuals like myself.
@laurashowalter35588 жыл бұрын
Alex Sandalis I wonder if it would matter, those who are interested like ourselves are seeking it out, and those who want a watered down version may likely just take the information with a grain of salt and usually never make application of the information, that has been my experience over the past 30 years.

Some Mustard seeds are baked to extend store shelf life as they are intended for homemade mustard creme. You want 'Bio' germinating seed, it contains Myrosinase. Horseradish also contains myrosinase and is an interesting condiment.

Brilliant video. Better nutritional information than all the official guidelines out there. And all for free! No one is better. Here was my favorite part: Inflammation and Aging: Although there are no human studies on sulforaphane’s effect on lifespan it does trigger NRF2 and FOXO pathways in red flour beetles. Why that matters? NRF2 is a pathway in humans that controls over 200 genes, many of which are antioxidant, anti-inflammatory, and inactivate potentially harmful compounds we are exposed to on a daily basis. Inflammation: The activation of NRF2 affects an important protein complex in your body, NF kappa B (NFkB). NFkB is a master regulator of pro-inflammatory response in your body. Chronic enhancement of pro-inflammatory mediators like NFkB accelerates aging and disease. NFkB induces cytokines that regulate the immune response like IL-6… higher IL-6 is a marker of increased risk of cancer and other age related diseases. Sulforaphane ingestion has been shown to decrease IL-6 by 20%, c-reactive protein by 16% and TNF-alpha by 11% (in one study). Higher ingestion has shown even greater levels of improvement. Bottom line: Sulforaphane inhibits NFkB which is a driver of chronic inflammation through the activation of the NRF2 pathway. Aging: NRF2 normally activates every 129 minutes, but ingesting Sulforaphane makes it activate every 80 minutes. NRF2 regulates genes affecting cellular aging, protecting cells from cancer by de-activating carcinogens and increasing their excretion; it deactivates inflammatory genes and activates anti-oxident genes; it slows cellular aging by lowering the amount of damage that accumulates within cells. This regulation and mitigation of inflammation is hugely important because damage that accumulates within cells accelerates telemere shortening and causes cells (including stem cells) to become senescent and non-functional making us more susceptible to infection as we age. Telemere shortening is a measure of cellular aging and longer telemeres are associated with longer life.
