Definitely use a stirplate and stir bar on low. So the copper sulfate comes in more contact with your electrodes

i use lead as a annode and cathode lead dioxide will pacify the surface and is cheap works great

Welcome new chemtuber!! So simple, I think this beats the burning sulfur route to sulfuric acid just for it's simplicity. Copper sulfate, wack in some electrodes, wait, evaporate, done. Btw if you get a powerful heating mantle or use camping stove to heat a round bottom flask snd perform a distillation, you can clean up your h2so4 by distilling it. Collect the fraction around 337°c as your pure 98°c sulfuric acid. Use sulfuric acid as joint grease and be caeeful your glassware doesn't crack from thermal shock. Ie don't spill water on it when it's 337°c

Thanks! I want to get some better equipment to be able to distill sulfuric acid. My setup right now is too iffy to try it with yet.

Lower wattage makes better deposits ( 1.8 -2 volts / 1 amp ) VxA = Watts I use electrolysis in copper cells to remove plated silver from items .

according to applied science a drop of soap will help the bubbles evolve faster. very cool idea. edit: your idea i mean. that copper powder will make a good additive to linseed oil or paint of some sort i'd reckon edit 2: on the electrolysis of water wiki page i saw in the history section that someone reported nitric acid being produced when water was electrolyzed at length do to nitrogen in the atmosphere. I wonder how much of your mixture is nitric or how one would test that

Cool video, cathode is your positive and anode is your negative. Very neat reaction! Keep it up and wear that ppe. 😊

Use a old cell phone charger 5volt 1.5 amp to 2 amp, you could probably even use a old laptop charger 12volt 3 amp, maybe even an old modem power supply. I've plated zinc onto copper from zinc sulfate. I was able to make some really crazy looking zinc crystals.

Thanks, If I can get a more consistent power supply than I have now I can run my electrolysis much faster. Also the phone charger sounds like a good idea. Thanks for commenting.
