A sequel to the movie was originally planned by Circle 7 Animation, titled Monsters Inc 2: Lost In Scaradise. The plot would focus on Mike & Sulley visiting Boo on her birthday, only to find out Boo has moved. So Mike & Sulley must travel through the human world to find Boo. This sequel was cancelled when Circle 7 shut down.

I love the bond between Sulley and Boo. Boo probably look at Sulley as big stuffed animal, pet and/or imaginary friend, and Sulley and Boo reminds of both other bond between human and non-human characters, like the human kids and Barney from Barney & Friends, Belle and Beast from Beauty and the Beast, Mowgli and Baloo from Jungle Book, and Boo reminds of even me and Sully reminds of both some of my favorite big non-human characters and even my deceased dad ever since I was a kid and still do, which is especially why Sulley is one of my favorite Pixar characters.
