The golden years of the Ottoman Empire come to life in a television series. The life of Suleiman the Magnificent is preparing to be a guest in your homes in all its glory. Get ready to experience the era with ambition, loves, wars and all the struggle.
Prince Solomon, with his closest man, Ibrahim Pargam Ibrahim receives the bad news in a hunt. His father Yavuz Sultan Selim Khan passed away. Prince Suleyman sets out for Istanbul without waiting. Prince Süleyman quickly reaches the capital. He attends the culus ceremony without waiting. His life changed in one day. He started his life as Sultan Süleyman.
Meanwhile, a galley loaded with slaves coming over the Black Sea is heading towards Istanbul. The hottest of the slaves is not yet aware that he is on a journey that will change his destiny. He is rebelling helplessly to return.
Sultan Süleyman wants to show what kind of sultan he is by the commands he gave on the first day of his sultanate. But not everyone will like these decisions. Sultan Süleyman does not hesitate to challenge all of Europe with the messages he sends.
Alex, despite all his rebellion, is brought to the Topkapi palace. His attitude attracted the attention of Valide Sultan from the first moment. But it won't be long before Alex learns the rules of the palace. He chooses a great target. Alex, Sultan Suleyman's first night on the way to attract his attention. Sultan Suleiman's wife Mahidevran just arrived from the palace of Manisa. He is looking forward to seeing his wife.

Sultan Süleyman, padişahlığının ilk gününde verdiği buyruklarla nasıl bir padişah olduğunu göstermek ister. Ama bu kararlar herkesin hoşuna gitmeyecektir. Sultan Süleyman ise gönderdiği mesajlarla, tüm Avrupa’ya meydan okumaktan çekinmez.
Alex, tüm isyankarlığına rağmen, Topkapı sarayına getirilir. Onun bu tavrı ilk andan itibaren Valide Sultan’ın dikkatini çeker. Ama Alex’in sarayın kurallarını öğrenmesi uzun sürmez. Kendisine büyük bir hedef seçer. Alex, Sultan Süleyman’ın karşısına çıktığı ilk gecede onun ilgisini çekmeyi başarır. Sultan Süleyman’ın eşi Mahidevran ise Manisa sarayından yeni gelmiş. No, Mihrimah and Mehmet were born before their marriage. Islamically, children that are born before marriage is not legitimate. But I don't quite remember if Bayezid and Selim were born before their marriage or not. If they did, there too were not legitimate. And again no, marriage didn't mean their son would get the throne. The one who is older (valiate şehzade) would get the throne, regardless of their parents marriage.

@@charlottemunday7311 Speaking of series, Suleiman was discriminative towards Mahidevran. He abandoned her for a mistake while Hurrem did thousands of grave mistakes still Suleiman was blind to it. In such a circumstance, Mahidevran's willingness to make her son Sultan wasn't wrong. And, Hurrem couldn't have made Mehmed a Sultan in presence of Mustapha, so her only option was to cry and pray for saving her and her sons lives.

Even if I hate the harem's system which oblige women to fight in permanence to exist or even to survive, you cannot blame Suleyman to show his love to Hurrëm. It is like this, a simple and true fact that he is in love with Hurrëm and not with Mahidevran anymore. When you love someone, you favorize him/her. Futhermore, you could say the same about Gulfëm, Suleyman and Mahidevran when Gulfem and the sultan lost their child.

Of course her beauty was a factor, but I thing even more so, it was her personality. She was vibrant, joyful, her face lit up like the sun and she was fun. She could banter with him and gave Sueliman much joy and laughter. They even played charades and both were laughing the entire time. Sueliman needed that joy and laughter in his life. He sure never received that from Mahideveran. As he said, I haven't laughed in a very long time. I found that sad.

There is good reason to believe she wasnt because (since she had already born a son) the Sultan was not supposed to continue sexual relations with her. In the beginning of every episode of Magnificent Century there is an information "The events and characters in this show have been fictionalised based on history" or something like that, so everyone who watch it knows that not everything is true. I think that Magnificent Century did a great job, many people now know about Sultan Suleiman and his great achievements, so I don't see anything wrong with this. I didn't know about Sultan Suleiman, Hurrem Sultan and other characters until I watch this show. It's good to even know the basics and this show gives opportunity to learn more, and if someone is interested they can always read some books about that era.

Hürrem and Süleymans mother had a good relationship. There are a lot of fictional things in every episode for drama reasons. Later, in Kösems story, even main characters are completely fictional and it becomes a kind of soapopera.

I don't get it, why is everyone like: Valide liked her/ hated her. People. We have reaaaally limited knowledge about the real emotions those characters had. I highly recomend a documentary about harem woman and sultanat woman from timeline here on youtube. Also I highly doubt that Hurrem was liked by Valide. It was always every Valide's main job to keep balance of harem and that meant, that no onther concubine should had go to Sultans more than few times or god forbide have more than one son. That's why Hürrem was so special. I can't imagine being Valide like: good girl, Hürrem, you have just destroyed the whole complex harem hierarchy and rules structure. You are perfectly suted for my son.

They wrote her to be highly obnoxious, but think about it. Her man, the father of her child, who swore his eternal undying love and loyalty to her, whom she adored with all her heart and soul, didn't hesitate to abandon her and betray her with a nobody-nothing bit of harem-clutter who also happened to be a nasty hateful bitter jealous shrew. Time and time and time again what was Mahidevran's, was taken away from her by that trash. Have some sympathy for the lady, she had to tolerate *absolute* betrayal, while Hurrem only had to tolerate normal harem rules. Mahidevran is one of the VERY few concubines in the harem who is actually deserving of sympathy.
