Sultans of Swing REDO (Cover) - Dire Straits - Rumpus Machine - Live Classic Rock & Originals Band

Sultans of Swing by Dire Straits from 1978 is just one of those classics that has embedded itself as one of the all time greats into the halls of guitar rock history. The song is just so alive with musical energy! We first covered it in December 2021 and feel that we owe it to the song that we record it again as a REDO as we did for Comfortably Numb. Our musicianship has improved as has our instruments and recording methods. Man we looked so much younger then! Hope you enjoy it :)
Rumpus Machine is a sibling rock band playing live classic rock music and original songs! We are brothers and sisters from Auckland in New Zealand. We like to learn and perform new songs together and play modern music and classic rock songs. We also write our own original songs too and publish to Spotify & Apple Music etc. We like to play live if we can - but also enjoying sharing our music online. We like to learn the new songs and polish them up as much as we can before we decide they’re ready to video and share. It’s gives us something to aim for and it’s also good to have for the future.
Ashley on drums and Hannah on the bass are twins and 12 years old. Matthew on guitar is 14 and Daniel on guitar and lead vocals is 15. Thanks for watching!

This is a really, really good copy of that song. Those youngsters are just so tallented and their parents must be very proud of what they have accomplished. The switching lead guitars was very impressive and the 2 girls flawless with their respective perfomances. Great Music!!!

Fantastic and amazing how you perform, incredible how Matthew play the fill ins, also how Daniel plays the solo at the end, virtous, the girls are also fantastic, exact rhythm on drums and bass you got so much better over the years. I was looking for videos of a Dire Straits cover band called 'Sultans of Swing', as they are coming to my city (in Spain) and wanted to check them out before I buy tickets. I can't find them but so glad I came across these young guys. As a GenXer, it warms my heart to see these 'kids' rocking this one. This was one of the best albums of my youth. The classics live on thanks to parents and teachers and kids who dedicate themselves to musicianship. Keep it up. You all have genuine potential. So fun to randomly come across this amazing cover. ❤ PS: Anyone know if the cover band 'Sultans of Swing' is worth seeing?!😂

Nicely done! This song has a deceivingly fast pace. I remember thinking that I was always speeding up when I first leaned to play it. I love how Ashley attacks the drums and gets those really sharp cracks on the snare. She has a very athletic style. You guys all have really come far. Awesome performance, guys; one of the must do pieces most musicians would want to cover once, at least. My sons first covered it at 14 the older, 13 years ago, and at 13 the younger, 7 years ago; me, myself, sometimes play it with my kids (far behind the way you play it). One of the things that makes this song so special is the fact that every instrument line has high complexity and one need skills not little over the average to play it properly; still achieving it is something one really enjoy.
