- The song "Tak Tong Tong" was popularized by Oslan Husein (an actor and singer who is famous for singing Minang songs) in the 50s, telling a story about advice for someone who is going through life to always be vigilant. - The words "Ayam Den Lapeh" in Minang mean "My Chicken is Letting Go (going away)". This song tells the story of someone who lost his chicken; while in Minangkabau culture, chickens are valuable animals, so this song shows someone who has lost something valuable, besides that, this song tells us not to get lost in sadness because human life goes on. The song "Ayam Den Lapeh", the lyrics were created by Nurseha and the melody by Abdul Hamid; popularized by Elly Kasim - a phenomenal and legendary Minang singer around the 50s. The lyrics of this song were written based on Nurseha's true life story about the cancellation of her engagement to a sailor. - The Plate Dance is usually performed in fertility ceremonies such as harvest festivals as an expression of gratitude for the success of the harvest and the protection of the gods from various threats to themselves. The plates in this dance symbolize offerings for the Goddess of Rice. This dance has been known to the Minangkabau people since the 12th century or before the arrival of Islam. However, after the arrival of Islam in Minangkabau, this dance was used to welcome honored guests or also used for the opening of a traditional ceremony and wedding ceremony. The plates that are stepped on by the dancers have previously been given a prayer so that the dancers' feet will not be injured.
