CAROLYN // LYRICS
These times in life we learn to try, with one intention
Of learning how and when we'll die, but we can't listen
I wish to god I'd known that I, I didn't stand a chance
Of looking back and knowing why, or pain of circumstance
You're not alone
We'll brave this storm
So here's my song I wrote in time, when it was needed
Through pain of heart or loss of mind, your burdens lifted
You aren't alone just know that I, can't save our hearts tonight
You're not alone
We'll brave this storm
And face today
You're not alone
You're not alone
We'll brave this storm
And face today
You're not alone

I was waiting for this one so bad... I remember listening to this song in my best friend's room while we were thinking this was sang for us. We were just two depressed teenagers who thought music was the only thing that could save us. And now I'm here alone, and I confirm, music save lifes, and BVB is one of the bands I'll be thankful for forever, for being part of my healing process.

Black Veil Brides saved me. 2010, I put a gun to my head and pulled the trigger. Not all of the powder ignited, and for about 3 days, I was slipping in and out of consciousness, covered in my own blood., screaming in pain, begging for it to stop. A few months later, I found Black Veil Brides, and I fell in love. I bought an album, and then another, and then another, and another. Since then, I've been at the brink, ready to try for lucky number nine (8 prior suicide attempts), but then, I'd hear BVB, and I'd put the gun down. In 2014, I saved up my money, and I tattooed their logo on the back of my dominant hand, so whenever I'm holding something that can end my life, I see that symbol, and their entire discography plays in my mind, and I put the gun down. Every year, I go through depression for a number of reasons, but Black Veil Brides has kept me alive for 10 years and counting. Their symbol is the only tattoo I have on my entire body, and while I've thought about getting more, I never seem to have the money to, but I had the money for them.

@@ZeroFighter that’s a powerful story. Sounds like you have gone through extremely intense spiritual warfare. Idk if you believe in a God or not, but I want to let you know that there is a God out there who loves you and cares about you very very much. I’m sure it sounds cliche at this point to hear the Christian evangelizing to you telling you to “repent sinner” and all that stuff. The truth is, I don’t have everything in my life figured out either; the difference is, I have the forgiveness of Jesus Christ covering all my sin and shame. God truly does care about you and love you. Maby the reason He has kept you alive after all those attempts on your own life is because you were meant to read my message to you. We have all messed up at some point including myself, but you are never too far gone, even if you feel like you have gone father than anyone else and reached your wits end, I promise you that the sacrifice of Jesus Christ, God in human flesh, can save you. I would guess that the intense psychological attacks you keep experiencing are actually demons trying to manipulate your mind. I think everyone struggles with demonic influence to some extent. I have, and I, day after day, ask the Holy Spirit to help me face the demonic forces, and He very much does. Idk if you’ve ever had a true Christian talk to you before, but I want to at least let you know that I am here for you and praying for you to God. The truth is, Christians get a bad rep because a lot of them take on the “holier than thou” mentality. The truth is, they are completely wrong. All of us are human and all of us are fallen, sinful creatures. We ALL require Jesus Christ’s sacrifice on the cross. No one is better than any other person. The good news is that, because we are all flawed and fallen, none of us can do a single thing to save ourselves and redeem ourselves from our horrible acts. Why is that good? Well I’ll explain: so imagine trying to clean dirty dishes that need washing with literal mud-water. It doesn’t work, right? It’s the same way with us humans trying to save ourselves; something dirty can not make itself clean, we require a perfect, clean person in order to clean us up and redeem our souls. That is why the sacrifice of Jesus Christ being crucified on the cross is so crucial to every Christian. Jesus Christ is literally God in flesh. He is perfect and by Him being perfect, He fits that criteria for being able to save us fallen humans. When He was on that cross, not only did He suffer physical pain, He also was having to bear the weight of literally every sin ever committed by every human who has ever lived, and will ever live! He had to die and be the sacrifice to redeem us, so that we are saved from eternal life in Hell, and instead, get to literally spend our entire eternity with the God who created us all and everything around us. There is even better news too. Jesus Christ actually resurrected back up from the grave after 3 days of being dead. He is a living God! All you have to do to receive this salvation is to talk to God. Ask Him to cover up all of your past regrets and to give you a completely new life. Ask him to put your soul in His hands because no human can lead His eternal destiny by his own flawed will. I promise you, God knows every struggle you have gone through. The Bible says He literally keeps track with the number of hairs on your head! He is eager for you to pray to Him and give your life up to Him. You can literally talk to Him anywhere at any time even if you are not talking out loud, you can still talk to Him in your head. I promise you I wouldn’t type this long message out if I didn’t have a reason. I believe with my whole heart that the Holy Spirit lead me to type this out. I am praying for you, God bless! 🙏🏻

Let me tell you a story: I suffer from a lot of bullying at school since I was only 6 years old. Not only from other kids, but teachers made my life a big ass Hell, every single day. So when this song came out 10 years ago, I play this and The Mortician's Daughter alone in my room, crying...a lot. Without any friends that could hear all the pain I had. Now? Now I am a 20 year old guy. No more bullying, I have a good job, a lot of good friends...and when I heard this remastered version...I cry again. But proud that I surpass all that pain to finally have a good life. 10 years ago, I use this song to cry. Now, I cry proud of myself with this song. Thank you for everything Black Veil Brides.

This song had me in tears within the first five minutes. Knowing it was about Jake's mom it made me think of my own mother and it's coming up on two years that she was found in her car. We still don't know the circumstances surrounding my mom's death as she was vagrant at the time and authorities didn't bother to investigate. This song was one that got me through some rough times as a super emotional teenager going through some pretty crippling self esteem issues & questions of identity & self harm & suicidal thoughts, one I often fell asleep to. I was SUPER impatient to hear this track redone but listened through the whole album and gave each track the listen it deserved before this one. Worth it... and I love this version even better. Knowing what BVB has gone through and how they came out the other side victorious and with a new member that pushes them into a better place, it gives this song new meaning to me. I no longer depend on music alone to get me through, nor a band, as I have found that Jesus is infinitely better. But it was a real treat to hear this song remade, because it reminds me of how I too came out the other side victorious with a new heart. Still learning about many things, but ultimately victorious. Reminds me I truly am not alone as I once believed I was, that the storms can be braved, that today can be faced, that while pain & circumstances generally can't be understood in the moment, there's a purpose behind it. Much love to y'all, and know that you're never alone ❤🖤

Ive been a fan of BVB since about 2015 and i wanted to listen to this because ive heard alot about it but had never listened to it prior from today. I didnt realise it was about Jakes mom. It made me sad because my grandma passed away today, but when he says "you're not alone" it gave me goosebumps and i realised my grandma will always be with me. Thank you Black Veil Brides🖤🖤

Muero de nostalgia al comparar la voz de Andy con cómo se escuchaba hace 7 años :''''). Realmente es una banda que me identificó en gran parte de mi vida y la cual estoy muy agradecida de haber conocido u,w,u

God it's been years since I've heard this song. It's amazing how a lot of "emo" songs and bands i haven't listened to in a while are still engraved in my memory. Its still on my bucket list to see a bvb concert as they were my absolute favorite band. I stopped obsessing over them once i got into high school but i still like their songs. They still hold a place in my heart

This reminds me of my childhood/teenage best friend. It brings back memories of trying to mimic these guys while blasting the original CD. He died from a drug overdose a fews years ago and it just hits harder than it ever has. Always make me feel some type of way

As a fan of Black Veil Brides sinse their 'we Stitch these Wounds' album, I can say that this new version is amazing. Andy's voice has seriously gotten better throughout the years and has aged fantastically. CC's drumming and Lonny's bass together make a powerful punch to all the songs of the album. Jake and Jinxx have also increased their tones in their guitars and it sounds sick asf! I played the album the second I woke up and it was definitely worth the wait. Thank you BVB \m/
