@UC-pDs4Gv6S0Qa0_fMMYOSqw Yeah, we’ve followed The Warning since their viral “Enter Sandman” video (when my daughter was barely more than a toddler!). Their recent album is excellent. Evanescence basically falls into the category of “classic rock oldies” for her 😅 but she can sing along with the hits. I should check out some of the others with her; I’ve been meaning to check out Jinjer anyway. 👌🤘

@northwindkey
@northwindkey 2 жыл бұрын
@@differentfins They are letting her sing a bit more and more though. Tbf, the classic Arch Enemy fans would've probably thrown a fit if the band immediately shifted to a focus on clean vocal chorus' after literally 20 years of staying true to a pure screaming melodeath focus. Phasing in the clean singing gradually is the right call, it's exactly what people say In Flames should've done instead of just randomly changing genres.

@northwindkey
@northwindkey 2 жыл бұрын
@@ghjebus3 AE is literally the band that inspired Alissa to be a musician (And a lot of bands, AE is one of the most influential metal bands of the past 30 years). And you're all saying she should ditch it just because she isn't using clean vocals a whole lot in it (Which was partly her decision may I remind people, she wanted to focus screaming on AE and singing on her solo project she never got around to actually doing)? The disrespect to one of Melodeath's most important and influential bands in this comment section is astounding. Do you people realize what kind of an opportunity and honor that is, to not only join one of the most acclaimed metal bands ever but also do so as a replacement for Angela Gossow, one of the most beloved vocalists of all time? Also, you people clearly haven't listened to AE since like 2014. Alissa has done plenty of clean vocals in their more recent stuff, and it's been increasing steadily. They're phasing in clean vocals to AE gradually, the right move, instead of giving their fans immediate whiplash.

@@Drekon009 She's done clean singing on several Arch Enemy songs. The 2017 album had some clean vocals, the recent stuff has had more. They've been phasing in the clean vocals over time, they didn't want to go from 20 years of pure screaming albums immediately to a clean vocal chorus focus. It would be too much whiplash, especially to people who were skeptical of Angela being replaced.
@ytbr3383

@@CzechRiot Nah. Tatiana Shmailyuk of Jinjer blows her out of the water. Alissa isn't bad, just very generic. Vicki Psarakis who replaced her in The Agonist is also better imo, but that could be because it's a more technical band in every aspect too. For my buck, Skyler Howren of Once Human is more gritty and unique vocally than Alissa as well.

@@atomicsun72 Yeah about that, calling her "one in a million" is what I was addressing. She's good, don't get me wrong, but there are plenty of vocalists in metal better than her, male and female alike. My opinions are just opinions, true enough. I've no interest in being an elitist either, but the fact I'm a metal musician that can play every instrument professionally, and a producer... I even build studios lol. Some more potential bragging... I've seen every one of these people live, some multiple times, Alissa in 2 different bands over close to 15 years at this point. I think it's fair to say that I have an educated opinion lol. Cheers to you too.

In ONE TUNE, Alyssa shows that: one can growl and do a "death grunt"/throat-singing, but then break out into clean vocals that would bring most "Pop Princesses" to shame. And Nita can write melodic hooks which make most producers pull their headphones off and ask: "WTF did she just do?"
