Bitterness, resentment, trauma, grief, guilt, grudges, shame - all things that breed this mindset from a broken soul. I've been a metalhead since I was a kid. I was into shit like dimmu borgir, Whitechapel, black Dahlia murder, JFAC, etc. I'm a Christian. Was agnostic for 2 years and then came back. And over time I moved away from lyrics like in this song. Still love metal though. Anyway I'm a diagnosed crazy person, and I went/am going through recovery, treatment, worked the 12 steps, got the right meds, got into therapy, and I work in treatment centers. Jesus completely flipped my life upside down. I didn't have to be perfect, I didn't censor myself with him, happy mad screaming crying laughing, I give it all to him. I didn't have to clean myself up and perform or otherwise fear his wrath. It has absolutely nothing to do with how good or bad you are and EVERYTHING to do with how good he is. He didn't strike me down he lifted me the fuck up, he got down low with me and embraced me. I am a fucked up human being and I've hurt a lot of ppl. I hit rock bottom and every day was hell. I've carried so much pain. But I didn't get mad at God. I let him in. I THANKED him for that pain from genetics, from my mistakes, and from the ones who hurt me. I thanked him for giving me free will and allowing me to go to the end of myself before realizing how much I need him. I felt embraced by him in the deepest way. And over the last 4 years my relationship with him has gotten so close, and my soul and my mind have gone through healing. I am so grateful for everything I have, down to breath in my lungs and the ability to eat food. I try to embrace every moment. Ppl give up on faith bc they see all of the human corruption within Christianity and tell themselves that there's nothing more to it. Maybe from childhood (trauma). Maybe it's natural disasters, or the general devastation of human chaos, torture, unanswered prayers, religious extremism, loss of a loved one, whatever it is - They decide that God must be a sadistic being if he's real, and either turn atheist or join the other team (which makes no sense to me bc to sign up means to accept the terms, which ultimately means they're fucked). They're fed a lie that says God is evil, and that we should worship our own desires and become a better God than him. Pride takes control. If you genuinely seek Jesus then he will embrace you but you have to keep coming back and have patience in order to find the deeper layers. He sees through all of our bullshit. One of the reasons God doesn't answer prayers is bc he wants to know how much we actually want him and trust him. He wants to see and he wants us to find out who or what we actually have faith in. He doesn't go where he's not welcome. Love is a choice but humans often choose wrong. We're constantly being distracted in life and he wants to know if we're actually trying to trust him, or if it was cheap talk based on circumstantial emotions. Free will is bitter sweet. If God prevents human error then none of us get a choice, and we can never find out who we actually are. God will give you exactly what you want, him or not. The choice is yours. I hope this helped someone. Love you 💜
