Captivating and beautiful, it looks like such a pleasant experience and the paper created would make the most beautiful prints or book covers! What kind of ink do you use?

Thank you so much! I use Yasutomo's black sumi ink. 😊

I just came upon your video today. This past week I purchased a Suminagashi kit. I should be receiving it this week. My questions are, does water temperature matter? If so, what temperature should the water be? Does the ink also need to be within a certain range of temperature? Also, when creating a design, is there a specific time range that the design should be created in? Will the ink design start to dry or get gummy? I am asking this question because when I hydro dip using acrylic paints in water, the object I am going to transfer my design to must be done within 60-90 seconds before the paint starts to get stringy. Also, the paints are affected by the water temperature. Should I be concerned about this when using the inks in water? Thanks.

Woah! That's really exciting. I try to use room-temperature water (not too hot and not too cold). That seems to work best for me and the ink as well. This is quite different than hydro dipping so you can go pretty slow creating the design. The ink doesn't dry or get gummy in the water tray. But if you leave ink out in a cup it will dry out after some time so try to keep it in a sealed container and only pour out a little for your sessions (a little goes a long way). I go pretty slow when I'm creating but speed up the technique for the videos just a smidge. This technique is much more forgiving than others. I recommend starting with a small bowl / tray first to just get the technique down and test out the ink. Give yourself grace as you get started and have fun!
