Americans grow tomatoes for pasta sauce what i see all the time. We Asians use it for stir-fry( beef or pork) and hot and sour soups green and when it's ripped with fish delicious. We had loaded of Roma tomatoes last year I roasted and made salsas, stir-fry and hot and sour soups delicious! 😋

Thanks for sharing your garden tour, I am in Ripon CA, an hour south of you with simular weather. It's so fun to see what you are growing! One little tip I heard, I your herbs like oregano and lemon balm are taking over, just prune them back and they will end up more pungent. I too just had dill covered in aphids and cut it down, but I like your idea to leave it up as a trap plant. My Sunflowers always fall over, I just steak them up. My favorite paste tomatoes this year are Sheboygan and Cherokee heirloom varieties, they both produce huge fruit with few seeds and lots of meaty flesh. I'm excited to hear about your fall plantings! Happy gardening!

Thanks for the comment and the tip! I should prune them more aggressively, but they grow so fast! Lol. Lucas will be excited to look up those tomatoes, he is on the hunt for some new ones next year.

I'm happy to see another KZbin Sacramento Gardener. The heat adds an extra challenge to growing. Without shade cloth, I would be unable to grow. Keep up the good work Hope you make a video when you start your fall seeds.

Thanks for the comment! Shade cloth is a definite savior in this heat. We are planning on starting summer fall seeds in the next week or so! Always feels so early but we don’t want to be behind

Hey thanks for sharing your garden, I'm here in stockton and I've had issues with blossom end rot you can try watering with Epsom salt but if that doesn't work you may need to add some lime to your soil

Sacramento (County) here as well. Nice garden! Ours is generally doing well this year, except for our tomatillos, funny enough. Yours look like they’re doing well. Given our yard layout, I’m not sure our garden would have done well this year without shade cloth. I’ve grown probably at least 50 tomato varieties and San Marzanos are the worst for BER in my experience!

Im also in Sacramento and its my first year gardening :) Zucchinis are no thought needed and do great. I have the same issues with beefsteak from the store being small and strawberries dying off. A good slicing tomato I bought from ARC horticulture plant sale they do in the spring was Black Beauty but they need a spot where they'll get sun on all sides for full ripening but I pick some to ripen indoors and it is just red instead of black on those spots. Ive also been enjoying cantelope but my watermelons failed :(, one just died and the other randomly exploded

hi there! Im in Sacramento as well and just subscribed to your channel. The other tomato you should try is Amish Paste or just a Roma. I had great success with both of them with no blossom end rot. Have you started on any fall seeds yet?

I'm also in Sacramento. Thanks for your content. It's nice to see what others do so I can copy it because I have no idea what I'm doing. Question - what is your straw mulch/where do you get it? Thank you!

Welcome! We pick up a compressed bail of straw each spring from Tractors Supply and it lasts us the whole year

My favorite cucumbers is Armenian and you can pick them at any stage. They taste the best at 12 inches but try them at different stages

Thanks for the comment Chap! And thanks for following. It’s fun to grow together with people in similar areas so we can learn together what grows well, what doesn’t, and what tactics or strategies are most beneficial. How is your garden doing with all this heat?

@@OurLibertyHouse I've never grown anything in my life until this year. I am growing everyihing out of 5-7gallon growbags since I only have about 250sqft. My yard has a pool and concrete deck. So for I have about 40 tomato plants, started havesting 3 weeks ago. 14 Zuchinni plants, lots of corn, beans, cucumbers watermelon, cantelope, honey dew, strawberries, blueberries, grapes, ... I already havested onions and garlic in june. I made a lot of mistakes, but surprised I am actually able to grrow anything with less than 7 months experience and not sure about timing. Peppers are my struggles. I enjoyed watching you both in your garden. Keep it up. looking forward to your next vid. I got my garden on drip automation. Best thing ever.
