It is very common to close beaches (the swimming part) after heavy rain fall, it is usually due to lack of rinsing capacity from the sewage arrangements, it simply overflows and and uncleaned sewage runs into the ocean. We experience equal measurements here in Oslo (Norway), and I know they struggle with same issues many places in the U.K. Perhaps be careful with too much saltwater-swallowing on the nearby beaches that are actually open for swimming after heavy rain. Anyhoo: Nice video footage! Will travel to Provence and Antibes next Summer (p.s. the caprese salad at 10:22: A favorite!)

I suggest sewage overflow also happens in many other places too......but they're perhaps rather more reticent about publicising the fact - for fear of damage to tourism.

as a scuba diver rescue when you see a sign say not allowed to swim it is mean there are sharks near to the beach but they will never say that because it will scary the people and they will not coming again

8:40 Re: water quality - this same issue is at many beaches in the U.S. Essentially communities are piping sewage effluent offshore. When the concentration of bad stuff gets too high, they put up the signs. But once you know that you are always swimming in the outflow of what is flushed down the toilet, it kind of spoils the swimming at the beach ides no matter where you are.
