Turned 55 this year and had been working out since the beginning of the year (joined the gym just over 3 months). I've been watching your channel along with other style channels and picked ones that I think is more appropriate for my age. Basics and classics. I'm on the smaller side at 166cm so always trying to dress up to appear taller. Nowadays I mostly wear fitted plain crew neck t-shirts or polo shirts. Fitted joggers for casual, no crease at the end with black or white sneakers with no show socks. Because of my flat feet, loafers are a no go. Fitted jeans for going out and will wear chinos in summer (Winter here in Melbourne atm). I will get my blazers tailored to length. I do have Hanes type shirts but not wearing them at the moment because my shoulders and traps and not muscly enough and I do look older when wearing them especially when my white hair are popping out. It's the same with white shirts. I've been getting compliments from my daughters regarding my new look. I will be posting on IG soon with how I used to look compared to how I look now. I hope to get some feedback from you.

Hey Freddie, don’t grow old too Gracefully, working out is good & you obviously like nice clothes. Regarding white hair get a body trimmer. You can put inserts in the loafers if you want to just get a bit of a lift. I also have flat feet but really notice the difference in loafers, just a bit closer to the Earth. There is a guy here in the U.K. on KZbin worth listening to called Steph Chesney, he gives good style tips.

Ironically, I made almost all of these switches over ten years ago, something happened when I hit my mid-thirties that made me realize I didn’t want to look like a child anymore. It certainly helped on the dating scene after my divorce. One of the things my new wife noticed when we first started dating was that I was well dressed and seemed “well rounded”. There are very few things we can control when meeting someone or making a first impression but I’ve found that appearance is one of the factors I can. Great video Ashley!

I've never worn cargo shorts unless it was for camping. Everything else I've seemed to avoid either on purpose or by accident with the exception of tank tops. I live in the San Fernando Valley here in Southern California where the temps average 105 in the summer so a tank top and shorts are essential if you don't want to melt completely. If you have better suggestions in lieu if a tank top in the scorching heat, I've love your feedback.

Depends on what their made of. The hard leather shoes that are in this video suck but if you get some in something more breathable, like suede or knitted cotton then their pretty good

Maybe I missed a word when you were talking about breathable footwear, but I don't consider loafers or boat shoes to be automatically breathable. They let your ankles breathe, but not necessarily your feet. *Woven* leather loafers and boat shoes are breathable. Ones made from an open-weave fabric are breathable. But a solid leather or heavy canvas loafer or boat shoe breathes about as well as any other piece of solid leather or heavy canvas. Not at all.

I am finding that a lot of these content creators have taken to taking shots at other creators. I wish that people would just create and allow the veiwers to decide whether or not they want to continue watching a particular creator. I have come across channels that I enjoy and others that I don't , but more and more I'm seeing that the topics I'm interested in seem throw shade at other channels in an effort to gain subs. I feel like it's petty and childish...

I agree mostley although I prefer a long sleeve shirt with sleeves rolled up or polo as i don't wear shorts. They're starting again around here with their cargo shorts and flip fops and sandels. The temperature is only in the mid teens at best and it's like thier trying to kid themselves that we have a great climate. It's a shame that people don't seem to care how they look generally.

Those shorts have been classic Cholo wear since before the turn of the century. As for the rest, I would recommend to observe men that are very successful in life/career and what they wear, the words they choose and how they carry themselves. I have yet to see one wearing any jewelry outside of their class ring, wedding band and classic watch. They all wear fitted slacks with classic fitted shirts and polished shoes that match their belt.

I think Ashley has got some of this right. I think we are a bit ahead here in the U.K. when it comes to summer fashion. Bang on with some things but way behind on others. We like our turned up shorts & i hate to say it but Cargo shorts have made a big come back here. Superdry have a great range & all above the knees, just don’t put stuff in the pockets & get the nerdy IT repair guy. Check out Steph Chesney for some Brit cool. But Ashley has got a lot of it right in this Vid.

You're welcome to wear what you like, just some friendly professional advice if you're trying to look your best. If you need to carry so much stuff that cargo shorts an everyday essential, you should try 2 things: 1. Consider if you REALLY need to carry that much stuff day-to-day. 2. If so, find a good bag, hip bag, shoulder bag or similar that still looks good and keeps your pockets from being full of a bunch of stuff.

Cargo shorts worn for utility - hiking, etc, totally fine. Cargo shorts worn as a style piece - sure, I've seen it done well, but they're not being used as a utility item and the pockets are completely empty and totally flat.

Good piece of advice from me: If your going to wear a beaded bracelet, make sure it's only one and have the beads as a medium size natural stone like tigers eye, lapis lazuli, dragons blood, ect. It's a good move trust me

Cargo shorts & strides have made a big comeback this summer, the shorts or the strides shouldn’t have anything in the pockets so they at least have some sartorial elegance on most shapes. I agree (for a change🙂) with Ashley on this one & about where flip flops should be worn. One bangle is enough for any bloke as well. I remember a young man who wore loads on his ankle for some strange reason, did he have girlfriend, kind of doubtful 🤨

I thought the rule on shorts was the same as sandals, only wear them when around a body of water. The last time I wore shorts in public was on vacation in the Bahamas and it was not a pair of cargo shorts. Oh, and ditched all logo t-shirts long ago.

The only thing I am going to disagree with is the comment about other kinds of shoes being a breathable as flips flops or sandals. No. No, they are not. For some of us guys, having sweaty feet, especially in summer, is a major problem, wearing sandals alleviates that and whilst some women will complain about the appearance, fewer women will complain about the smell. Same principle applies to socks and sandals, some of us find the combination leads to much better breathability and sweat evaporation, whilst also preventing the build up of nasty gunk between your bare feet and the sole of your sandal. Comfort and women not being repelled by the smell versus women being repelled by the appearance. Fortunately, there are ways you can be fairly smart about it - I don't wear shorts, so it is easier for sandals with dark socks to not look as terrible with my linen trousers.

Totally disagree on cargos. The shorts Ashley recommends have super shallow pockets. A graphic tee is fine, logos specifically fully agreed. Loafers, driving moccasins and espadrilles are ugly, stop recommending them.
