Summer King + Steelhead Fishing In Frankfort Michigan | Trolling for Chinook = EPIC DOUBLE!!

Taking a surreal steelhead salmon trip from Frankfort to the famous Herring Hole and up to Betsie point. Using wire, dipsy divers, downriggers, leadcore and planer boards, we set up in about 100-180fow. Action came early on a lost wire fish but quickly picked up once the smoke and fog cleared up a bit. Most all steelhead were caught on half-core lead core (5-color) setups, using Okuma rods and reels. The salmon we caught were on meat rigs, vegan rigs and flashers. 10" stuff with 28"-34" leader lengths. Orange, green, yellow were hot colors.
We has a great time getting into some big fish on our first big water troll of the year. The smoke/fog, condensation and low visibility made it hard at times but we preserved like the true Jackpine Savages that we are. The silver fish have arrived in our neck of the woods and we couldn't be more pleased. With last years massive alewife bloom and this year having similar reported numbers with bloater cisco, the 4 year old King (Chinook) are going to be MONSTERS this year. 40lb fish will be caught out of all ports, mark my words...
