Stream numbers have jumped from like 2.5k in Austin to 7kish during Manhattan Final. And 5-6k during the previous events. Popular players and teams get 3-4k easy on Sat & Sun. It's growing slowly. The live stream chat is filled with some fun and awesome people. Real die hard fans. Bally's- spend 2-3k for another budget camera, extra batteries, and a stand; give the people what they want. Edit. First 20 mins, talking about getting local involvement and players having fun with fans is dead on what should be happening. Everyone loves to play, use that as a catalyst to get them to watch. It's such a rare sport that athletes are pretty approachable.

BVB lists Partain’s height at 6’2”. That seems more like it. Love the show; Tri’s low key prediction of them winning the MBO was spot on!
@SANDCASTPodcast2 жыл бұрын
Partain's probably 6'5 and looooooong haha

BVB might be out of date
@galinswigart2 жыл бұрын
Has anyone heard any Benesh/Partain buzz? It seems a pretty obvious pairing based on age, skillset, and potential. Obviously there's a lot more than that needed to compete at that level and chemistry is hard to predict but two under 30's studs that have improved dramatically over the past few years would be a big and physical team for sure.
@SANDCASTPodcast2 жыл бұрын
On paper all of that makes perfect sense, but Miles was the MPSF POY indoors, and he has a great career at UCLA. So as long as he's intent on continuing his indoor career and committing there, it would be tough to make a legitimate run internationally on the beach
@andrewpulsipher20622 жыл бұрын
Lotman still a bit better than Benesh for now. Little more consistency and control. Dalhausser and Miles would be a good pairing though, Phil still playing at a high level
@galinswigart2 жыл бұрын
@@andrewpulsipher2062 Phil isn’t playing internationally anymore. And it’s a toss up between Benesh and Lotman. I think Benesh’s ceiling is way, way higher.

@@SANDCASTPodcast Miles would be crazy to not spend at least some post UCLA time making good Indoor pro money before coming back to the beach full time.
@umrobe622 жыл бұрын
@@galinswigart That's why Partain and Phil would be a great fit for a couple years, because Miles isn't playing internationally yet and Phil is already done. Andy and Miles Evans are actually a pretty solid team right now already anyway, let's see where that goes.

Since for the last few episodes you've talked about the biggest tournaments concerning fans and stuff....you've never mentioned the tournaments in vienna - it's unfortunate they haven't happened for 2 (or 3?) years, but as far as I can relate to conversations to players many of them said that Vienna is just different, it's bigger, it's more a big party, it's just crazy concerning the size, amount of fans, etc....I was wondering if you guys just missed it or if you feel different about it! I've been to a few of the majors in vienna or to the world championship and the atmosphere on all courts was awesome (not only the big 10k people center court). Also the entire area that was built for it around the CC was incredible
@SANDCASTPodcast2 жыл бұрын
You're 100 percent correct. Vienna is epic. I (Travis) haven't been there yet, so I couldn't speak on experience. But I've heard Vienna is an incredible place for beach volleyball

The ATP in late 80’s used college tennis stadiums and would try to sign local banks as marquee sponsors . Are there now nice small college VB stadiums in place? Any ncaa beach college programs in areas with youth beach clubs too? I mean at least there would be a base. Maybe a legend market too like Phil in FL, Adam Johnson in Austin and hyden in TN?
@SANDCASTPodcast2 жыл бұрын
That's not a bad idea there. USC, Poly, FSU, LSU, GSU all have pretty solid stadiums, among many many others

About those verticals on sand: If you're 6'5 (195 cm), that's 48 cm to the top of the net + roughly 15 cm until your nose is at that height = 63 cm which is roughly 25 inches ;) I guess Tri might get a bit higher than that "nose over net" and you could also add something between 2 and 4 inches because your feet sink into the sand when you jump, so you're not actually jumping from 0, but from -2 or -4 inches. Another nice way to measure this is to watch film and to count the frames you are in the air. The more fps, the more accurate your result will be ;)
