They turned out great! Love turning "trash" into treasure. It makes for a more unique village.

I appreciate you discussing how this type of merch is not valued for much. I glean some concern trolls, not namecalling just using the common term, seem very invested in saving things based on projected or perceived value. There’s no malice in it. I hope they respect your extra effort and embrace your remix as the alternative would be bric-a-brac bound for the garbage barge. Keep making decor that brings you joy!

I'm totally with you! Some things are 100% worth saving but most stuff I find is mass-produced and there are tons out there. And if I can make mass-produced junk just a little better, I feel better about my efforts. Thank you for your comment! It mirrors my thoughts exactly.

These are so cute! I don't see anything wrong with becoming a Halloween village lady. 😀

Me neither!! If my house is going to be taken over by a holiday, that's the one I'm good with!

The clock tower is a christmas paint your own village. My mom has a huge christmas village that she has painted. You dont place a candle, but a light to light up the houses. So dont worry about painting that one. It was meant to do whatever with.

Cool, thank you for the back story! This one has some scorch marks on the inside so I imagine the last owner didn't know it wasn't candle safe. But I'm definitely putting a light inside!

So I'm not the only one who's already thinking about halloween. I feel so validated! 😄 I love the end result!

These turned out great! I have a few little buildings that I've been meaning to do spooky makeovers on. I just need to clean up my craft area and do it. 🎃

I'd cover them in glue and roll them around the craft mess. See what comes up!! 🤣🤣

did you mix some of the paint with water? i saw some of the paint was very watery and ran down the buildings. maybe im wrong but it looked awesome
@KatieMakesStuff3 ай бұрын
I did! I made it more of a wash instead to mimic the weathering you'd see in corners where rain and funk would accumulate.
@timthielbar7953 ай бұрын
@@KatieMakesStuff I absolutely love that look but have never used that method. Sorry to bother you but do you have any helpful tips on that method or maybe ratios? I Have found generic christmas houses to convert and did one last year turned out good but i am always looking to do better work lol

It really sucks when you have to explain why you buy certain things and what and if you plaint them. You should be able to do any art you want with any medium without people complaining and being obnoxious. Who has time for that.

I appreciate the backup! I understand why folks get protective over things that could be valuable, but my experience has typically been that thrift store stuff is usually junk. So why not make it junk I actually want to look at? 🤷
