Hello, I'm planning on becoming a transfer student in 2024. I'm 28, have a wife and two cats. My wife already graduated from NC State, so I'm the late bloomer and finally decided I want to be a theatre arts high scholl teacher which I am passionate about. There is a huge concern for my wife and I living in Boone together, and the plan might be that we live separate, she stays with her folks and I go to app by myself unfortunately. Is there any possible affordable apartments you know of, preferably a one bedroom, spacious, around $1,000? All my research I done has only showed tiny one bedrooms or rent out a bedroom situation. Any info helps plenty

you can definitely find single bedroom apartments for around that price point, however it would be even cheaper and easier if you tried to find a 2 bedroom apartment. I would also recommend applying for an apartment the October before you start as the apartment process is very competitive

@brandonmiller2465 you said a 2 bedroom us cheaper, would that include my wife or renting out a bedroom with a random roommate? I have an apartment I think would be ideal for if I have to move by myself but I'm trying to see if there was a possible way for my wife and I to live comfortably

Hi! I am a non traditional college student so I get getting started later on in life and congrats on getting started with everything. So, I work for housing on campus so I never really got to explore much of housing outside of the campus tbh. But I have heard from my friends that apartments near campus are super competitive, expensive and honestly not that spacious. I actually recommend trying to find housing through the app state off campus housing portal :offcampushousing.appstate.edu/ I know people that have found more affordable housing through that route. I really hope this helps!

@SummerBailey also, whenever you get a chance since you work for housing, if I am forced to go a more solo route, I was eyeing at 494 lofts for the walking convenience. My current least doesn't end until March 2024, so how early/what would you recommend would stand out in terms of locking in an apartment? Does specific finances gain a competitive edge etc? How early should I apply to hopefully lock in a place close to that time frame?
