I know about Criech, Beamish and other museums with tram collections; this is now to me. My Scots ancestors would be glad to see it! TM, San Francisco, CA, USA

Summerlee certainly is a great place. Well worth a visit. I really must pay another visit soon.

I was shocked to realise the last time I was at Summerlee was 10 years ago so I had to pay another visit. It is a brilliant place celebrating Scotland's Industrial past,very much like Beamish only in a smaller scale. Ah The Hillman Imp.What a car.

Thanks Alan. It really is a brilliant place to visit. I cant believe the last time I was there was 10 years ago.It really brings back memories,you tend to forget the amount of things that have disappeared in the name of progress..

I believe the old steam crane came from Dalzell Steel Works late 70s or early 80s. We used to move it all over the works by coupling a locomotive to it. It was used for derailments and heavy lifting. Great to see this👍, I'll have to take the Grandchildren for a visit.

Apologies I have only just found your message. Certainly would have been something to see the Steam Crane and Loco in operation. Hope you managed to pay a visit with the Grandkids. Wonderful place.

Cracking video Tommy, that's another 'hidden gem' that I hadn't heard of before, I reaaly must do a Scottish Tour one of these days. They have some really nice items of our once great industrial heritage on display, what a pity museums seem to be the only place where they can be found these days.

Don't think I've heard of that place before. All looks very interesting, a bit like Beamish. Wouldn't it be nice to see that Garratt in steam? :D Good to see they haven't forgotten one of the finest examples of Glaswegian engineering (12:49) :P
@SteamboatWilley2 ай бұрын
Sadly the Garratt has deteriorated somewhat since this video was filmed.

Brillant video tommy, was that a couple of standered gauge locos that i saw and an arifca loco?
@SteamboatWilley2 ай бұрын
The three industrials outside are a Hudswell Clarke 0-6-0 side tank, a Sentinel and an Andrew Barclay diesel. The Gibb & Hogg 0-4-0 saddle tank is inside the museum, and the South African Garratt was built by North British in Glasgow.
