What I think happened to Will: He got concussed in that Nakamura match, evidently, but he was cleared to compete, probably hiding some of the issues from the backstage doctors, then when he hits the whisper in the wind his head whipped back on the landing causing his concussion to come back horribly, when he would go to the corner everytime he'd look down to get the Hidden blade ready, his head would get all woozy and he just couldn't hit it. Which is also why he didn't kick out, he got hit in the head with the GTS and he couldn't lift his arms up properly to kick out due to not being able to feel them.
