nice video very helpful in have a question I'm not sure if you have answered this in one of your videos I sure you have. Im from ca the la county area and I been fishing for about 6 years now but bank fishing can't afford a boat unfortunately now ive always just fished trout, catfish, bluegill, and crappie now don't get me wrong casting and relaxing waiting for a bite is fun and all but I want to start fishing more for those bigger bites like bass I watch your videos and see you catch and work for those fish and I want to learn now I've caught bass before but by accident I guess you can say when I'm fishing for trout or cat the baby bass bite instead so my question is what would you recommend a beginner bass fisherman like myself to get as far as my first bass rod and reel combo I know walmart has a Shakespeare combo for a cheap price but I have no clue if that's the way to go or should I spend a bit more or is that ok any help would be great thank you in advance love the videos
@mr.fatbasstard6488 жыл бұрын
George my golf bag holds 14 golf clubs and each club serves a different purpose. On any given fishing trip there are six rods and reels on my boat. The rod rack in my garage has about 30!!! Okay don't go nervous bro you don't need to buy 30 rods but you do need to provide some more helpful information before choosing what 2 or 3 rods out of that 30 you want to purchase!! Assuming from your comment that you'll be spending 90% of your time on the bank. How about the water you're fishing in is it clear, cloudy, muddy? Is it a lake or river a reservoir a pond? Do you fish all year long? Are you going after Largemouth mouth Smallmouth Striped bass? All of the above? We can go on forever with questions to help assist with how to find the right rod and reel combo for you. So here's the most helpful advice to you George. keep watching KZbin videos on how to choose a bass rod and reel combo. Give a little more credit to the guys in the videos wearing those silly-looking stock car racing shirts!! they've earned the right to wear that goofy shirt by fishing just a little bit better than the average guy. But remember they're just trying to sell you the crap that's on that shirt so they can fish for free :-) When you watch the videos keep in mind what kind of fishing you'll be doing where, when and how and what information from those videos applies to you and your fishing. This way you won't wind up with a rod and reel that does not best suit you and your fishing situation! Good luck to you my brother. btw: this Nick dude has a crapload of videos that are extremely helpful and occasionally he wears a silly shirt too and he earned it!!!

Edwardo Perez yea well in my area socal i only know of a couple lakes not the clearest water unfortunately and from my knowledge of fishing them over the years they only have large mouth bass and one has striper im trying to find pounds around my area or golf courses that allow to fish there ponds but its been a search with not so much luck and yes your right about nick i watch his videos alot and his name does suit him hes very informative i do watch alot of youtube videos like you suggested but not many that ive found show fishing around my area im sure there's videos i just haven't had luck finding them and the two youtubers i found that make videos around my area dont want to say the location of the pounds they fish they say its a secret
@mr.fatbasstard6488 жыл бұрын
+george araiza Lmao yep every bass fisherman has their secret spot(s). Try this for your first Bass rig. If you want to go to Walmart as you said and save a few bucks go ahead and get the Shakespeare Ugly Stik E-lite 7'-0" Graphite, medium - heavy (MH) rod. It comes with the Abu Garcia Black Max 5 Bearing baitcaster reel. It's a pretty good utility setup for a reasonable price. Check out IF's video on how to cast a baitcaster. I'm sure you own a decent spinning combo already that you can use for finesse fishing (lightweight line and lightweight baits). Your new baitcaster will work great for fishing line in the 10 to 20lb range and lures of all types in the 1/4 to 1 ounce weight range. Its pretty well suited for casting from the bank. I'm guessing in about 15 years you're going to have 30 rods in your garage..lol.. welcome to the double-digit largemouth bass chase.

Hey man love the videos. I doubt you'll see this but I got a huge question for you that i cant seem to find the answer to anywhere. Not sure if my baitcasting reel is just a P.O.S or what but I cant seem to adjust my tension knob loose enough for lighter crankbaits and light lures ect. Am I doing something wrong or whats the deal because it ends in many birds nests and casts too short to even be worth it. Thanks for your time.
@mr.fatbasstard6487 жыл бұрын
Kieron Edwards surmising from your statement in-part "can't seem to adjust my tension knob loose enough" you got a problem with your tension knob. If you back off your tension knob enough even a light lure should fall immediately and cause an overrun.
@kishredbird35997 жыл бұрын
There was a point in time where i had it so loose that i made a cast and it fell off into the water. Ordered the replacement and all was well but as of now i just make sure to buy the slightly bigger crankbaits. Not really sure what to do other than throw slightly heavier stuff

No don't get Shakespeare, I would recommend something like an Abu Garcia Black Max reel it can be found at Walmart for like 40 bucks and the bmax3 is a pretty good starter reel, pair it up with something like a 7' med/hvy Abu Garcia Vendetta 2 rod, they are like 80 bucks and a great starter rod, hope this helps.
@georgearaiza81898 жыл бұрын
+kushcrumbleshatter1990 thanks I took your suggestions and headed to bass pro but was told they were out of stock so what I did so my trip wouldn't be a waste I went ahead and purchased bass pros tourney special rod and reel combo is that one worth the buy?
@kushcrumbleshatter8 жыл бұрын
+george araiza Yea for sure the tourney special baitcast combo?
@kushcrumbleshatter8 жыл бұрын
+george araiza A long time ago I purchased the tourney special spinning combo for shakey head fishing and I still have it today it works flawless and I've put it to the test so I'm sure the baitcast combo is good too, I've never heard anything bad about them as far as being a good starter combo.
@georgearaiza81898 жыл бұрын
kushcrumbleshatter1990 yes the baitcaster combo I've tried looking up videos about it but can't find one on the specific one I've purchased I'm also trying to find good ponds around here in socal not sure how good bass fishing is here
