I use a Boss VE-20 voice processor on the horn. It has like 30 presets. I mainly use the Rock and the Ballad presets. It’s costly, $250 - $300, but well worth it to me. It really adds fullness and body to the sound.

Go to jazzbacks.com and get the backing track for around $7.50. It includes the sheet music for the melody. The solos, your on your own but feel free to copy anything I’ve done on this channel. I play for the love of the game.

Hey I’m trying to learn tenor at the moment, I’ve got the song down good enough but my tone just isn’t quite right. Do you have any tone suggestions for me to sound more like this?
@coopman194823 күн бұрын
Here’s my tips. You can’t correct your tone if you can’t hear it. I always practice with headphones so I can clearly hear what I’m playing. Practice Long Tones, play a note and hold it 5 or 6 seconds. The biggest thing to making the sax sound good is adding some effects. I use the Boss VE-20 voice processor. It’s a bit pricey, in the $300 dollar range, but it has over 30 presets already built into the unit. You can also harmonize with yourself as I do in some of my videos.

Take as much as you want. Get yourself some headphones and listen to yourself while playing with the backing track. The sound will immerse you in another world. It also helps you improve your sound.

How'd you get away with this? I tried the same thing - posting a video of me playing Summertime on tenor me using the same JazzBacks backing track - and both Facebook and KZbin issued me with a mute notice, alleging copyright infringement. All I was allowed to post was a short extract of my solo. C'est domage.

That’s a bummer. I’m in the United States. There are different copyright issues in different countries. I load all my videos from my iPad not my desktop. I mark them for public viewing and not for kids. Nearly all of my videos are marked as copyright by KZbin, surprisingly this one isn’t. I have also loaded this on Facebook with no issues. Again, loading from my iPad. I hope this helps.
