This is seriously so badass. I'm going to school for VFX and motion graphics now at the Art Institute and we haven't even covered any real motion graphics content yet, but watching this has given me a little more hope that some day I'll be able to actually do some of the things the professionals do out there. I think it just takes a lot of practice and constantly learning new techniques, as that has to be half the battle lol. Thanks for this awesome tutorial!

I know this video was made a year ago, but I just wanted to say I do appreciate the part of the video where you go over the illustrator background work! Though I do know how to work illustrator, it's nice to see how the workflow is from beginning to end and how the shapes in illustrator are used in after effects! Great tutorials! I've found much inspiration from your tutorials!

You, man, are so amazing! First, you made such a useful tutorial. Second, you actually went through the trouble of keeping it all in one video. Third, you've been talking for an hour straight explaining stuff in such details and that too without a stop. Hats off to your efforts, man. I'm so glad I actually found your channel. I don't usually comment, but this time I just had to. Hope you get my appreciation.

I've learned more about After Effects and Illustrator from this video alone than from an entire semester of motion graphics. There were a lot of points where you weren't sure if you were over or under explaining things but I found it all easy to follow and very informative. Keep these up, they're an awesome resource even for beginners like me.

Your tutorials have been extremely useful to me and have helped me grow not only as a motion graphics artist, but as a graphic designer (I have minimal experience with Illustrator, so your tutorials help a ton). Including your process in Illustrator has been a lifesaver. Thanks for all you do! Keep up the great work.

Illustrator part is very helpful. Please keep entire process in video so that we know whats happening. Like Making characters in Illustrator in some way to animate them in some way in after effects is still a mystery to me as there are few tutorials explaining the connection. Puppet tool of AE isnt really that great due to distortion and precision with starch tool. Some tutorials on that would be helpful, though I think you have some videos on that, Ill check them out after these ones. Thanks a ton!

A huge portion of After effects uses coding, took me about 6-8 years to become extremely comfortable with it. As a designer, I find it is always good to have at least some coding skills anyways (I find this is a lost art with a lot of designers). But I know many designers who program, and their work is close to top notch.

u don't have to follow the process, just use pen tool to create a new shape layer, therefore it will have control points (yet these aren't appear), and first click shape layer(under "contents" layer), then click path layer to add an new keyframe, you'll find controls points shown on the screen.
