“The European Union will support you in every way we can. For as long as it takes,” said European Council president Charles Michel earlier today at Ukraine-EU summit in Kyiv. Meanwhile, high-ranking officials of the Baltic states have highlighted the need to crack down on attempts to evade sanctions.

@Knowledge absolutely! I was a member of 'die linke' because my wife did work for one ph their offices a few years back and was hoping, that they could become a force against the far right parties in germany, but after how 'die linke' or their representatives acted and what they said, I had finally enough of them and left. I really should have left the day, I decided to vote for another party. They are such a disgrace .

Considering that Ukraine is not only defending its survival as a people, but as a democracy. I am really fed up with political ambitions affecting a timely delivery of lo g range weaponry. I co sider the ignorance of wwii paranoia to be a hinderance to freedom...not the preservation. Anyone, using these unreslistic fears as viable excuses, only fools themselves.

The Baltic Based want tougher sanctions against Russia. I hope the rest of EU will listen. Actually what their politicians say resonate with voters across a lot of Europe. At least here on the Baltic sea coast side of Sweden it feels like the 3 Baltic Based States + Poland (and likely now Czechia after the presidential election) are the really the adults in the room. And Finland too in other ways.

The apple cart will be upset for them, unless they get with it and help with both hands open. Ukraine needs help now! If Ukraine asks, it should get what it asks for, immediately. This is life and death matter for us all! Putin already escalated it on 2/24/22. He’s bluffing and he’s losing and must lose. No appeasements. No fears. We must be as one.

I'm really surprised, and frankly disappointed at Germany (that is, the up 'til recently held stance on the Leopard for instance - but also in what seems to be a large percentage of the people's opinion: both concerning Russia and also their opinions on support for Ukraine). Many even seem to trust the Poland less than Russia? How that's even possible? (We here in the EU may have our disagreements every now and then - but we 'fight' with words and principles! I thought and had hoped we had learned the 'lesson' that there's no 'other way' - if we want to keep our democracies, freedoms and civilization?). And what are we in 'the West' waiting for - what exactly is 'unclear' about this entire situation? Russia hasn't "just" launched a full-scale war against Ukraine and its' people...But has also both publicly and openly declared war on the entire 'West', our democracies, security and entire way of life! We should give the Ukrainians what they need to defend themselves, reclaim their lands and reduce the entire Russian war-machine to rubble. And in the process hopefully also destroy the current Russian criminal, barbaric and 'colonial' regime! There really isn't much that's unclear about this, 'our current situation'! (The Russian 'government' have for quite some time now been engaged in propelling 'anti-west'-propaganda, 'open' cyber-attacks, sabotage and espionage, trying to disrupt our military defenses, under-mining our press and spread disinformation, weaponized energy and corrupting our governments, and not least - interfering in our democratic systems and elections...In short - they have in no unclear way acted on their openly declared intentions to undermine our entire way of life! So - why the hesitation? Naturally we want to do everything in our power not to trigger a nuclear war. But otherwise, fear of 'escalation'? HOW? Any escalation in Ukraine isn't even theoretically possible - and as long as they're 'busy' there, how would they possibly go about 'escalating' this conflict any further? By non-military means? Is there really anything they haven't already tried to do, or done? It might be an uncomfortable one, but a truth none-the-less: The threat of escalation into a nuclear war lies firmly in the grip of the vengeful and deranged 'Tzar of Russia'. And not in ours!). And I really don't get how there could even be a discussion around whether Russia and Belarus should be allowed to compete in the Olympics. It's core principles clearly states: 'For the promotion of peace, respect for and dignity of human life' (paraphrase)....Is there really any doubt whether or not Russia upholds these core values? Victory, peace and freedom to Ukraine and its' people! And love from Sweden. Slava Ukaini!

So before Olympic game Russia can be forced out. The government want money so people can't rely on them to do what right. Some participants will need be persuaded to stay way because contracts with companies and money. That can be changed if people show they will not relent.

The longer southeastern Ukraine is occupied, the less likely it is for it being re-taken by Ukraine. The Russians have re-enforced and fortified their positions there. And Ukraine can't even hold the front lines frozen. Russians keep advancing, albeit slowly. Prospects are certainly not good. There is a very good chance that Russians will take whole of Eastern Ukraine. But, honestly, that shouldn't be a surprise to us. We knew Russia was a bigger military from the very beginning. Ukraine did fight courageously though.

The Russians are far more capable of manufacturing military equipment, and have been manufacturing on an ongoing basis. That was discerned from a broadcast of some discussion among Russian officials where very expedited deliveries were being demanded by the Putin regime. Of course they can still get everything they need, or can make it if they cannot get it. Russia is not quite as backward a nation, nor is it as isolated and cut off from foreign supply as some in the media suggest. They are simply wrong in their mislead. Not sure if Russian propaganda has been successful in that regard, or whether it is simply prejudice and ignorance in relation to the facts. While Russia has continually lacked the ability to manufacture some civilian sector products its military industrial complex was typically more self sufficient than the West tends to give it credit for. Russia, similar to its prior incarnation as the USSR, does not like to have the facts about its military industrial complex come out into public. Russian media are not permitted to expose those sorts of details. We can assume that Russia has everything it needs in terms of its vast wealth of raw materials, and as to its capability of manufacturing specialized military items, across the full spectrum of componentry and parts. Even though there are things that Russia is not good at, or not considered able, to produce in large commercial quantities, we should not assume that they cannot produce what they need for military production in specialized workshops. That does not in anyway go against Russia's preference to obtain some dual purpose, civilian and military use, components from China and India where it can do so. That offloads the work that specialized workshops would have to do. Look on that as a bonus. There is reason to believe that Russia can continue military production of anything it produces even if it were totally isolated and did not have allies such as India and China to draw from. Not knowing the capacity of the specialized workshops, and not knowing how much of the Soviet military infrastructure was preserved and in fact upgraded since the political collapse of the USSR, is a concern. Even the CIA does not seem to have much of a solid grip on that nowadays. We know they exist, but we cannot quantify the qualitative assessment that is involved. Keeping in mind that the Russians learned the hard way, during the Soviet era, about constrained supply and ongoing "sanctions". Putin and Patrushev are both old KGB men who know that side of the problem quite well, coming from the previous era and it is entirely unthinkable that the Russian regime, under their direction, failed to maintain and upgrade the specialized workshops under their control. So you do not have large factories, as you do in China, cranking out toys for civvies in massive quantities, while pushing military hardware out the back door hush hush. That is a very Chinese thing, and Russia is very different. In Russia you have a secret, well hidden, state owned and state run, military workshop producing what the military production line needs and nothing for the civvies who are told there is nothing for them and nothing to see there. They have to buy their toys from China or wherever else, same as North Americans tend to have to do. We have to assume, unless very solid and significant evidence comes forward from Western intel agency sources, that Russia is entirely capable of manufacturing anything military that it knows how to make and will continue to be able to do so, within its unique and very secretive military industrial model. A model definitely derived from the Cold War era and capable of thwarting Cold War constraints in respect to its specific capabilities. Though keep in mind that Russia has advanced technically, by a huge leap. That does not imply that Russia would choose to build its newer designs rather than reverting to older designs, for production. Older designs can be produced much faster, and are less strain on the specialized workshops which are certain to be capable of the new designs as well. Even Russians do not design and prototype something that they have no ability to build. That is another bit o media bullshit that is playing into the Russian game and it is mostly likely exactly that, merely bullshit that makes the Russians look much weaker than they are. Something the Russians prefer to appear to be for obvious reasons. If that belief as to Russian military complex incapacity and weakness is perpetuated and believed then Ukraine allies will prove much more reluctant to act and will not act quickly enough as to providence, and that definitely serves the Russian purpose. Remember that the Russians are masters at media manipulation and a lot of what we see that appears in the media is a product of that manipulation, devised to serve Russian purpose. The Russians as inept, incapable, near to being destroyed, is far from the most probable truth, but it does serve Russian interests to make Russia appear to be something far less than it is. Make a Siberian tiger look like a mouse, and then the tiger takes the prey is a very real part of the game.

Berlin is German but not Germany... We are still highly divided. The east of German is mostly against sending weapons and even pro Russia where the west is mostly against Russia and pro weapons. But all Germans have a duck away mentality. We are afraid to do wrong, so we do nothing. We are also afraid to speak up against what we think is the common opinion in Germany (Germans have a tendency to get pretty extreme with people who don't align with common opinion). To be honest. I am disgusted by my fellow Germans. I am pro Ukrainia and pro weapons. Russia can't nuke all of the world, but if they try, they themselves would get wiped out. So it's unlike that they would.

I really wish that Poland would stop this nonsense about reparations. This leads to division we really cannot afford right now. And it is not like Germany would pay reparations to begin with. The German economy, demographic, pension system and inflation are all worsening right now and this will continue for decades. Germany is dependant on it's car industry which will lose its relevance with electric cars and climate policy. Germany is in no position to pay reparations. I'd argue that Poland could overtake Germany as an industrial nation in 20-30 years. Also if Poland would be given reparations, most european countries could ask aswell. This would bankrupt and ruin Germany on the spot. It is also hardly Germanies fault, that Poland was occupied by the soviet union. Germany hardly "supported" the soviet union during that time (: Every country was on it's own, soviets were stronger than Poles and even the US wanted to stay out of it at first. Please don't bring up ancient history of 90 years ago to demand annother country to commit bankrupcy. Pretty much anyone responsible or affected by the Nazi Government is already dead. What is the point, besides worsening relations? Germany can never pay reparations for all these reasons.

First of all, big shame on the civilized world and humanity! In reality, the main losers are Ukraine, Russia, European countries, and third-world countries. But, the real beneficiaries are safe and happy with their evil intentions and arms business. Therefore, instead of adding fuel to the fire by providing more destructive arms, the civilized Europe and West should be neutral and come forward to bring the brothers to the peace table.
