The summit is 8,849m. Doesn't seem that bad but you need roughly 3 month to climb the peak and make a descent! As you get closer to the peak at about 8,400m there is less Oxygen so you need additional botles of Oxygen supplies. You can successfuly climb the peak without it, that's even harder! You must be in extremly good shape and experienced climber to even think about climbing the Everest. Even amongst the most experienced climbers the death rate is HIGH is 14%.
@Saqux2 жыл бұрын
For everyone wanting to go there here are how much it costs. "The price range for a standard supported climb ranges from $28,000 to $85,000. A fully custom climb will run over $115,000 and those extreme risk-takers can skimp by for well under $20,000. Typically, this includes transportation from Kathmandu or Lhasa, food, base camp tents, Sherpa support, and supplemental oxygen."
@casuallycrude2 жыл бұрын
Woah No fucking way…Is it seriously that expensive? Who takes these expeditions…Millionaires and up?
@TactileCoder2 жыл бұрын
@@casuallycrude it's a rich man's hobby. The only people who actually take on the most risk are the sherpas, who each season risk their lives plotting out a new path in the snow and help lead climbers to the summit.
@matteo89ify2 жыл бұрын
I can’t believe is that much wow , transportation from Kathmandu or Lhasa and food there cost nothing btw
@ITCOG2 жыл бұрын
@@matteo89ify Transportation to the mountain by airplane or helicopter on the south side. You cannot drive up the Khumbu. You can walk, but it would take you a few weeks from the last road. Oh and you need to pay people to carry your food and fuel and everything else you need for a 6 week expedition and 3 weeks walking in and out. Think about that. The man power it takes just to get a bag of rice from the store in KTM to Everest basecamp. And then the sherpa to carry it up the mountain. By the time a bottle of O2 gets used on summit day costs a lot more than its puchase price. It is purchased for say $100. Then you have to pay someone to package the O2 and take it to the airport. That's baggage that needs to be paid for. Someone then needs to pick it up at the airport and transfer it by foot or yak for a week to get to base camp. one is paying for a chef and kitchen staff. Climbing Sherpa to help carry loads or food gear and oxygen up the mountain and build camps. Then at the end, all of that stuff, including the trash needs to be carried out and "disposed of". Anyhow, thats the basics of why it costs so much.

At this atmospheric pressure an unacclimatized person would expect 1-3 minutes of "useful consciousness". After that they'd become "drunk", fall asleep and never wake up again. Of course the sherpa has his mask off like he's at a family barbecue.

that is why they have different camps at different levels ? They don't just climb from 0 to 8000+ in one go ... hmmmmm.
@pontius49153 жыл бұрын
Even Sherpas would do that if they didn't acclimatize. If you would go from sea level to Mt Everest in a couple of days or maybe a week, even as a nepalese with their genetic trait, you would experience the same thing. Climbing Mt Everest is a 2 month long endeavour because you need to acclimatize to the height
@team33833 жыл бұрын
@@pontius4915 Precisely why there are camps at different levels ... You don't get to the first camp from sea level. You START at first camp which is already higher than most other mountains. Sherpas are better acclimatized. They are born and live in Nepal at high altitude. My comment was to say that EVERYBODY is already acclimatized by going through these camps. There are no unnaclimatized persons as if they had just landed stright in from LAX in USA, so the comment about a normal person passing out or falling asleep never to wake up is useless. We all know what happens when an airplane depressurizes - Oxygen masks fall down. etc etc. Its like saying that a normal person would be crushed by Mike Tyson in the first round. Of course they would, but a "normal person" waits until he is a trained person before picking a fight with MT. Hmmmmmmm.

@@JoeVideoed You need to be *A LOT* higher than the top of Everest to see such a sharp curve. The curvature is due to the wide angle lens.

@@dannyboy5086 Fella, you can see it in real life. It’s not just the camera.
@dannyboy50862 жыл бұрын
@@cutler_beckett Bruh, compare the horizon at 0:24 to the horizon at 0:46. The further straight or straightish lines are from the center of the field of view, the more curved they are. That's how wide angle lens work. Even in an airplane at 35,000ft, the Earth's curvature is *barely* discernable. So yeah, the extreme curve that you see in this video is pretty much just the camera.

Imagine being at a posh golf and country club surrounded by the typical rich, boring wankers you would expect to be there, talking about rich, boring wanker stuff and behaving like rich, boring wankers. Now substitute the view of the golf course for a mountain range and keep everything else the same, that's pretty much what it would be like to be on top of Everest!
