if you want that compression the piston is half the puzzle. need to mill the head surface down or get new heads with smaller combustion chamber

I'm doing a 402 stroker and my pistons also came with 8 mystery rings, did you ever figure out what they are? I came here trying to figure out what they are. Cause the listing says no rings included

I have an lq4 and here is my question. If I use the standard size summit piston are they drop in after a light hand hone or does the cylinder need .002 taken out with a ridged hone? I'm just wondering if the pistons are undersized from the stock piston. I'm trying to get the correct piston to wall clearance.

Thank you for your question. The pistons are designed to drop into a factory bore with .004 metal to metal (skirt coatings take up some of that. With a mostly fresh block, we recommend a brush hone that cleans the metal vs. removing it. If you have a noticeable ridge, that will be over a couple of thousandths and keep in mind that even .006 piston to wall is 50% more than recommended and can lead to piston slap. Especially when cold. For this reason, we make .005+ oversizes for a very slight hone that is not expensive to do at a machine top when cleaning the block and doing new cam bearings anyway.

Thank you for your question. These pistons will rarely weigh close to stock due to the wide variety of o.e. variances. Balancing the crank will be required.

didn’t quite get info on a max rated HP capability of the pistons! if there’s any information out there, please lmk I have a set of summit pro ls piston and would like to know so I can determine my low and max hp build.

Thank you for your question. The pistons are rated at 1000 horsepower as measured at the rear wheels with the pins that are included. For over 1000 or any time a 300 shot of nitrous is added at any horsepower level, a thick-wall tool steel pin upgrade is recommended. Part numbers for pins are WIS-S718, SUM-S719, or SUM-S720. With these upgraded pins, the pistons have been utilized in vehicles making 1500 horsepower and more with good tuning.

So if I am running a Gen4 4.8L with boost then do I need the 7cc dish or 2cc dome pistons and I don't want to have to mill my 799 ported heads. And this is in a 2011 Silverado daily driven truck.

Thank you for your question. The 2cc domes would put compression in the 9.4:1 range with a 4.8. That would be advantageous. Remember you will need a Gen. 4 bushed 4.8L 6.275 rod length and 1.326 compression height piston to get the correct deck height. Thank you for your question John. The Summit Pro LS pistons are designed to run tight without any more noise than factory and this is with factory stroke or even the strokers. The important thing is to measure the block and hone as necessary to achieve the correct piston to wall clearance. Even .002 worth of wear increases recommended (.004 to the gauge point under the coating film) piston to wall clearance by 50%

Hello, we have four available bore sizes and they can be used with Gen. 3 rods, Gen. 4 Rods, and aftermarket 6.125 rods. If you are going for big boost, the 6.125 is a good option but we also make a Gen. 4 version that has a larger pin diameter.
