I have noticed that baby gorillas about 1 loose their baby hair on their head and new hair comes in.i remember when Shufai lost his.he looked so funny.and Kintaro too.Sumomo was really asking daddy to play!look at me, Big Daddy!!!what a Sweetie Pie she is!💞🦍💞😉🦋

I find it interesting that Sumomo prefers to spend more time with Auntie Toto than her mother. I wonder if it is because the siblings were all jostling over who could hold or carry her when she was introduced back into the family unit. Whereas Auntie Toto allowed Sumomo to have her space and only held or carried her when Sumomo wanted it. Auntie Toto's laid back personality allows Sumomo to be very independent and explore without being hovered over. Momokos children all love and respect Auntie Toto. Momoko knows that Sumomo is safe and cared for by Auntie Toto.

I find the entire dynamics of this troop so intriguing. I've often wondered who Sumomo sleeps with at night? Normally the baby would sleep with momma but in this somewhat unique situation would that still be the case?

Sumomo is very attached to Toto recently and Toto is also willing to play surrogate mother. I think that when Toto has Sumomo with her that Toto's status in the group increases.

Agreed, Momoko is alpha because all of her kids and even Toto respect her and if you notice whenever she moves the entire group moves in relation to wherever she is either giving her space or getting close to her. That’s a documented sign of seniority of females and males in gorilla troops. But whenever Toto has Sumomo they do respect her space more bc they know she will protect the baby. I also think Toto is less engaged with the troop, and having Sumomo gives her more connection and she needs that as she’s so maternal.

I also thin that with Sumomomis with Tot she it left alone by Haoko. Haoko is quite has a strong romantic side which causes him to wreak chaos at times. Sumom is the only think that Haoko will not harm in his tirades.@@mansonrf

@@quantumentanglement-007 agreed. He doesn’t follow her around looking for a romp and have a tirade when ignored, when she has Sumomo. He knows he has to be a good calm man around the baby, have you seen the past videos of when the others were babies and Haoko used to pick them up and carefully run away on 2 feet so Momoko would give him some attention then he would carefully give each baby back to her. He did this with all of his babes with her except for Sumomo. Sumomo is everyone’s baby but she knows she best protected and nurtured with Toto and her mother. Komomo is ready for her own child, but would need to leave the family. She is on birth control now with her younger sister and mother just in case. This is our little scientific soap opera.
