Its so interesting how Rotk by Koei and CA both opted to make him his own ruler when im pretty sure out of fear of being swallowed up by the local lords he pledged himself to Yuan Shu. Eastern Wu may not have been a faction had sun jian not perished that day.

Thanks for doing this. Ive been searching for English language history books that cover this era but there's almost nothing out there. I managed to find one nonfiction book and that costs a fortune. This channel seems to be the most comprehensive study of the era that's freely available to the English speaking world lol, apart from wikipedia. Such a shame that this fascinating subject doesnt have more of an audience in the west.

His army did engage in battle with Lu Bu's army and won, but Lu Bu wasn't really the badass he is in stories so don't be all that impressed tbh. The real feat was Sun Jian's victory over Dong Zhuo at the battle of Dagu Pass. There isn't much recorded about it, but THAT is a battle deserving of a narrative right there.

You should do another Sun Jian campaign, with the addition of the Qiao sisters when sun ce comes of age there is a lot of added flavor and army comps.

Exactly how many imposters declared themselves emperor only to end up dying instantly during the han period minus yuan shu and yellow turbans and to be honest the background trait should be changed to average wealth of a 25% increase and include a ancestor trait for the sun family it would be plus 15% damage resistance and access to all formations

Awesome job man. Keep up the great content and consistency. Let's play idea, being a warlord and take over the han empire early and try to run the Han until you become emperor. Cao Cao for instance like history!

The best warlord for this is Liu Chong in 190 since he gets a mission to actually seize the Han emperor. It's very easy to get him early on yet very challenging to hold him since he tends to escape even if you're the most powerful faction in the game. The whole emperor flees mechanic isn't consistent which is why rarely anyone goes after the emperor unless they are using the mod that disables the emperor fleeing

Nice opening episode. I wonder though why the game has Sun Jian from a wealthy background? The game also implies that Sun Zhong was a merchant not a farmer. Perhaps you and the game are correct in that Sun Zhong was a farmer (not necessarily a melon farmer) but was also a travelling peddler who sold his produce in neighboring towns. Of course i'm just guessing at this moment but it sort of makes sense. Also, i think Sun Qiang and Sun Jian are twins right? Sun Qiang died in his teen years if i'm not mistaken

I have always been puzzled by the wealthy background in game, but in the case of Sun Qiang, he was just an older brother. He lived till his late 20's and had a wife and two sons.

@@SeriousTrivia Yeah, I would rather CA give Sun Jian poor background for an extra challenge (considering the hidden commerce boost he get) but give him a different boost instead of the unimpressive +25% to movement in friendly sea regions. Oh well, It is what it is. CA describes Sun Jian as a Vanguard in his background yet make him a sentinel so i won't comment too much on their thought process

No one plays him because he isn’t playable unless you use a mod to unlock all factions as playable factions
