Thank you, Fr Matthew, for your most reverent celebration of the liturgy. I so enjoyed your well prepared homily, both the teaching and the enlightening motivation to help increase our love of the Holy Eucharist. It breaks my heart when I watch parishioners go from the communion line right out the door. I remember I was a teenager and did that and an usher stopped me to remind me to at least say a prayer before rushing out the door. I always remembered that gentle scolding. I do remember in Catholic school. the good sisters also taught us the 15 minute rule. In my opinion, one of the biggest mistakes of “updating“ the MASS in Vatican II was shortening the time after Communion, and not allowing for enough meditative time to give the opportunity for Reverent gratitude for what we have just been given. Sadly, many parish churches are no longer a place of prayer as soon as the liturgy ends and before it begins. Whenever I go to confession before a vigil mass, I have to go outside and sit in my car in order to pray my penance. But that’s another story for another day. God bless you, Father Matthew and thank you for all you do. I look forward to seeing the improvements to the National Shrine when I visit in April for Divine Mercy week. .

Very grateful for your enlightening homily, Fr. Matthew. The words you use to describe Jesus helps us to understand better and deeper about His condescension and giving of Himself for our salvation. He did everything that we may come close to Him especially that of receiving Him in Holy Communion. Truly, we must do our best, too,to respond humbly that what He wills for us will not be in vain. We cannot afford to fail Him, but if we do out of weakness, we must run back and right away into His divine heart overflowing with love and mercy.
