I recall trying to paint he walls on a condominium that my dad owned. My dad criticized me and said that he would kick me out. So I started watching professionals pointing bricks in the house that I live to learn. Later my mother told me stop doing that for invading their privacy. She would talk contemptuously whenever I tried to observe them .When my son and daughter went to parent conferences in high school my mother told not to go there because that was an invasion of their privacy. It was only after covid that I could do the conference on zoom. My mother asked me to shake hands with my daughter as she was leaving for Boston. She refused but was happy to say good-bye to everyone. My son and daughter hardly talk to me during the end of the day. At the end of the family rosary my son is happy to give the traditional greeting to elders to everyone except me.
